Well after being in the mans shed today, all i can say is, Holy Hell. What a weapon this thing is going to be. Still running the Mazda with the supercharger. But no Bat body. As he said " just flat panels like all the other ugly wedge looking cars" The guy is an ideas man, man there are some ideas in this car. Everything except the driver is up the middle. I was impressed. The Mod/saloon chassis is still sitting there, just in case.

I take it that it is a completely new chassis. The last creation was the ugly duckling from hell and to be honest the results just weren't there and the come back of the great Blondie ended up to be a fizzer. Lets hope this season we see the Blondie of old. Having seen the guy from Matamata the mazda rotary guru, on car culture tv3 several months ago the rotary motors are now more reliable and powerful than the past with the components being used now. Lets hope this latest creation lives up to the hype and give the Hypermacs etc a run for their money and give's the class another boost to an already exciting field. While Nakifans was critical of the last creation he still has his Blondie poncho and T shirt.

Nakifan, Yes I was impressed and can see why he has had the 1nz many times. This car will be something different, just like the last creation. Lets just say the front clip doesnt sit in the middle. The chassis is all new and not recreated from something else. Very wide cockpit area, almost 2 seater wide. The chassis pretty much is all down the middle, Everything sits inside it, fuel tank, battery box etc. Radiator sits sideways. Very small quickchange diff, almost midget size. I for one thought the last creation was ugly but different, sometimes different works and sometimes it doesnt. He also has a sprintcar chassis sitting there, maybe theres another creation on his mind???

Lets hope Stratford let him run with the saloons so he can get it all sorted. Lets face it if he runs with an S on the body he deserves that right. Go Blondie.

You can actually learn from racing with faster cars, particularly against experienced campaigners. Half the time the saloons are just as quick as the supers once the track is stuffed. Petty does come to mind..

Officials, promoters are at times somewhat selective in regard rules at times. Aware of the mixed class racing rule when invited to a track that frequently flouted the rule and combined both classes I specifically asked, "Will it be saloons only, no supers?" and got a yes, saloons only. I book my motel, drive for three/four hours and discover at drivers briefing, super saloons (3 or 4) are to start off the rear. Needlessly to say I was taken out with my left front destroyed as this methanol fuelled ego tripper sliced through the pack cutting grass on the way.
After being denied racing the previous week, Blondie, to my surprise and elation, was to be by my side in the Huntly pits, to share the track with the saloons. I'm somewhat passionate about our (my) 'heroes'. Now I had no problem with that as it was agreed Blondie wasn't out their to smash his way through the field to satisfy his thirst for dominance, to secure the winners flag, just to test out his untested car. Starting off the rear of the field I deliberately backed off to force him to pass, I wanted to video his efforts, I did and it was a lot of fun. Speedway isn't just about winning, but about entertaining, having fun ...

I kinda liked the ugly duckling - not for its looks, but for the different ideas that went into it.
Not the first centre slung car snz has had in the supers - nor the last. Not the first beam axle front end on a super saloon - not sure if it will be the last. Not the first supercharged super saloon - wont be the last. Not the first rotary super saloon - definitely wont be the last. Not the first open wheel based chassis super saloon {bet some of you guys forgot that!} - again not sure if it will be the last
first to pull all of those together though? I think so - has anyone else done it before?
And despite not achieving the results he wanted - he wasnt that far off the pace whenever I saw it running with supersaloons!!
