Well no-one else seems to have mentioned it.........the infamous teams draw. Is there any word on when this officially takes place?

lol luckily the more perceptive of us can sense your parody....... The days when the draw might have affected your chances are past im afraid there are advantages as to when you race, who you race, and what order you race. the draw is still very much instrumental in boosting or hindering anyones chances.

Sorry you misunderstood me.. i am saying your team would need to to draw Otago and Kihi kihi to make the next round and as they aren't there the draw to you is irrelevant.

Under normal circumstances there is an advantage to being a seeded team.
However given the unusual results last year and the strength of this years teams I think I'd rather be an unseeded team this year rather than a seeded team!
To illustrate mathematically, prior to the draw commencing a seeded team has a 1/4 chance of being in the same group as the Panthers. An unseeded team, 1/7.

A seeded team gets a longer break between races and thus more time to repair cars, plan for opposition after having seen them race, seen their damage, know what drivers might not be out versus them etc. A huge advantage in the scheme of things and if used wisely.
Live draw with seeded teams picking a group A,B,C,D....then unseeded also pick a ball with group letter on it. Order of picking is based on finishing order form last year.
A race schedule is already set and the teams fill the draw as they fill the groups etc.
Not overly hard, easy to do at 5pm on the infield to build hype and suspension and to make the same for all teams.

I imagine it's done a wwwk early so that the programme can be laid out and printed in advance. Could well be doing it again this year at WP as I thought we did last year. There's been such brilliant racing there's hardly been time to think about the ENZED Teams Champs. What a summer (slightly sarcastic weather wise) of Speedway. NZ Saloons this week at Waikaraka, then Palmy. Brilliant!

quote from j-mak " teams draw will be done on the infield at finals night of the NZ Saloon Champs being held at Waikaraka Park this Sunday night. If the 12th team hasn't confirmed by then, the draw will be done back in Palmerston North"
