And put your 80's camera in a blind monkeys hand and it would still deliver a better result than these knucklehead thieves. I've got an 80s Sony Betacam that delivers way better quality imagery than the cameras being used for the live stream tonight. Maybe those responsible for tonight's debacle would like to borrow it

Let's give Speedway Live a chance to put things right.
There is only one possible outcome from tonights debacle and that is a refund of every cent paid to watch the live stream. If that doesn't happen then by all means pile right in but I'll be happy to receive a full refund and forget tonight ever happened.
Any other outcome isn't good enough.

well i started 2 try and find out just the simple price 2 live stream it yeaterday mornin at 10am, i even sent them an email, i gave up lookn 4 a price 2 purchase it at 2pm. And Amazingly as i am writing this at 7.30am Saturday morning, i still havnt hAD a reply 2 the email, so i never watched it, and after reading all the posts, im pleased i didnt find it. As 4 the refund debarcle, im sure under our consumer guarentee act, if some one offers a goods or services which is either broken faulty or just doesnt work, they either have 2 replace it or if cant replace, they hAVe 2 refund all monies.
Please dont quote me, as i culd b wrong,
Oh and as 4 2nyte i still none of the wiser of the costs so ill have 2 just wait n c results on here.
Lastly,. Gisbourne Speedway, I kno alot of u guys work tirelessly for free 2 get the meetings going every week, and I / We applaud u for that effort, BUT Please explain the seceracy on the live streaming until the last possible day. We arnt All kindergarten aged speedway enthusiasts.

the price of $30 (or $50 for both nights) was easy and straight forward to find out. Can't imagine what you were doing to not discover it.

It will be extremely interesting to see what the providers have to say about this. Normally quite vocal with their ideas and even arguably about how good they are, this entire effort was obviously nothing short of a rank failure. And aren't they quiet? It's one thing to give people time to "check their connection", but you'd have to suggest that the problem was at the provider end this time? And as for "no refunds", I'd be appalled if they don't back down on that, for the reasons Percy has already pointed out above, as surely under these circumstances they have both a moral and legal obligation? But then that often isn't enough for some people in the anonymous age of the Internet.
Eric35h. I think it's pretty obvious why the stream wasn't announced until as late as it was. Gisborne want bums on seats at the track, not in lounge rooms. Even allowing for that I believe streams announced any later than the Monday immediately before the weekend of the event are doomed to failure. That just pisses people off, and they don't go to the track OR purchase the stream. They spend their money elsewhere.

I could only find the price on one of the 3 links provided on Page 1 of this thread, although have to admit I didn't look too hard, but yeah, it popped right up on the third link. $55 for two nights though macgor. Not sure if it may have said $50 somewhere else though? Or you may have been typing from memory, and your memory maybe as good as mine? πππππ Barry B

It seems like last night was an unmitigated disaster for those who chose streaming over traveling. I'Ve been talking to one half of the four man commentary team this morning (the imported half) and it's safe to say they are not their normal bright and cheerful selves. Both have reputations for a professional level of commentary, and those reputations were not enhanced last night for a variety of reasons beyond their control. The equipment didn't seem to be up to the task, and as the night wore on, they were used less and less. Surely if you're going to the trouble and expense of bringing in wel known commentators, you'd make use of them.
I've been pressed into service as a commentator at my local track over the last year, and I know how difficult the job is. I'm not in the habit now of criticism of others doing the same job. But last night, due to a whole range of factors (both technical and human) wasn't great, and for those not in Gisborne was pretty shambolic. Given that Gisborne is hosting the NZ Stockcars next season and possibly the Teams Champs as well, something needs to be done. There were similar concerns after the teams last season, and from what one of the visiting commentators told me, not much has changed, despite assurances to the contrary.
Here's hoping for better things tonight.

Very disappointed with lasts nights streaming Yes they had a statement to say no refunds and you could view the quality of the streaming prior to purchase, yes it was a bit jittery but I could accept that.
You could not however see that the timing of the cameras were not synchronised.
Example of most races last night, the 10 cars were lined up to start the race,( shot from elevated camera) the pace ute would move away and green flag dropped,.. cars moved off crash bash race or whatever, the commentators would be doing their bit, then the stream would switch to camera on turn 1, and the shot would show the pace ute still in front of the 10 cars ,while the commentators are going off about the action on turn 2 and the straight( while the stream is providing us a view of the cars on the start line.)
I believe that other cameras were not synchronised as it appeared often we could view the same incident maybe 5 seconds from a different camera. Very very professional yeah right.
Being a speedway fan it would be like going to buy a hotdog, and the item supplied is a frozen sausage on a stick with batter on it. One would expect the hotdog to be heated/cooked , but nowhere displayed are there signs saying it would be cooked or heated. It is expected to be cooked! I feel like I was given a frozen sausage on a stick last night with cameras not synchronised. Would you expect a refund for the frozen sausage.

To be fair, if it wasn't for the retarded chimp on the commentary you wouldn't have a clue who won because the video isn't clear enough to pick out the numbers..... oh great, it's gone into buffering mode and kicked me out ONCE AGAIN!!!! Wow, easy on chap, he's just filling in. Normally on the track.

Who are the commentators? What are they doing. Mike, Rocky, Ramjam and Mintie. Commentating?

If live laps was an option for all major meetings would people be happy to pay for it, $5-$10? It seems reliable enough and wouldn't take spectators away from going to the venue like a quality live stream might.
