Well folks this was a new one for me. A car removed from a Superstock Teams race due to excessive smoke.
Having analysed the rule book I assume this rule was the one sighted R12-4-61 If a vehicle becomes unsafe in any other way during the race it will be removed by the Referee.
Admittedly I wasn't there live but on the live stream the smoke whilst substantial was hardly what I would term a safety issue. If it was a safety issue then why wasn't 88p pulled off laps earlier?
Thankfully I don't think the decision altered the outcome of the race but I for one was perplexed by the call. I'd be interested to hear the thoughts of others, in particular those who were in attendance.

Like you I would be interested in whether it really was a concern.

Onehunga has changed over the years Percy What used to be allowed isnt no more ,the less smoke the better for public relations ,the general public like smoke free area,s ,so why let a car have excessive smoke ,choke the public and children in the park .

I think it was a loose oil line and they didn't want another fire like peter Rees had on the first night (I'm not to sure if that was the case though)
