Now that the field is finalised after Latvia won the qualifier, beating Germany,France and Italy, its all on for the weeklong showdown beginning on the 1st July. The teams have named their riders with some interesting picks, namely USA having no Greg Hancock, no Tai Woffinden for UK and Russia having no Artem Laguta, whereas Jason Doyle is still racing even with his broken foot. Will Poland be hamstrung by only having one race which is the final, whereas every other team has at least 2 meetings to gel together or will my mighty homeland be too strong for the others? I'm going to pick Australia to win event 1 with the GB and Czech teams going to the run off. Event 2 i'll pick hometeam Sweden to win, with Denmark and Russia going to the run off. To make the final from the run off i'll pick Denmark. My final picks will be of course Poland, then Sweden, Australia and Denmark in 4th and its all live on Sky TV

Sky sports pop up channel 6am this Sunday morning. Then I think it will be Wed & Thurs mornings for the qualifying and race off, then the final Sunday 9th July about 5am I think (someone will correct me with those times)
Poland should absolutely p!ss in this year, so much talent to choose from, although the rules around playing the joker can bring a team right back into it when played right. Should be an awesome series.

I think Sweden may struggle, AJ out i beleive, and it might depend on which Antonio turns up. Leon Madsen going great guns in league racing, as with Grigori Laguta for The Russians. Russkies are my darkhorse to get through, but the final surely goes to Poland. Last year's weren't too shabby, looking forward to more of the same.

Still no official word on AJ being withdrawn by Sweden. On another note the SEC starts tonight at the worlds best bike speedway track of Torun and is the return of Jarek Hampel to top class competition.

Event 2 was all that is good about teams racing. I was pleased to see Latvia knock out Denmark and make the race-off.

Was good wasn't it. Lebedev was always going to be competitive, but the others really stepped up this time. Pity the Russians didn't have Artem Laguta, been going good lately, still bad blood from previous years i guess. Race-off will be interesting, especially if Doyle can't ride.

That racing this morning in round 2 was superb. What a great wide fast track. Russia really impressed me, altho I was worried at one stage for them. They were only one point off being able to use their Joker, but never got the chance. If things had panned out slightly different there was a chance Russia could have finished 4th this morning and not played their Joker.
I would love to see Russia win the race off but having said that the young American team also impressed the other day.

45 minutes before Russia's biggest ever race Grigori Laguta gets banned for a year for doping offences. Well done.

I see Troy had no problem passing his "dope" test. Interesting final it will be.

Poles rode very well as expected. What is the average age of the team, how many seasons is it likely to be an up-hill battle for the other Nations to win the trophy.

I'd think they could dominate for quite a few years. Zmarzliks 22 i think, Dudek 25, Pawlicki 23-ish, Majic probably 27-ish, so a lot of years left in them. Scary thing for other nations is there are a bunch more almost at the same level...Symon Wozniak beat them all recently to become the new Polish Champ, then there's a load of Juniors who are capable of beating anyone on their day.

Magic is 25, Pawlicki is 22, Dudek is 25 and Bartosz is the baby at 22, so given that Greg Hancock is 46 it will be 20 years of Polish wins in a row
