The huntly event has always been 4v4 and dont think i have heard anyone complain about cars being spread too thin. alot of drivers prefer 4v4 and at the end of the day it is their event so maybe it was them who asked for 4v4 rather then pit space or trying to make it easier for teams to find enough driver. Just a theory

God you can’t please anyone these days. Agree 100%. It is what it is. I will be there no matter how many in a team or how many teams. I have preferences on what I would like to see, but I am not a Promoter or an Organiser, so I will go with the show that they provide.

If you look at any teams racing at WP it has been 4x4 in the past few years

If you look at any teams racing at WP it has been 4x4 in the past few years Superstocks yes, and so was the NZ Stockcar title in the early years, until Baypark hosted it about 2001. They ran 8 car teams from memory, 7 each on track at a time. Welly won it and liked the extra cars, considering that a Stockcar doesn't go as fast, sound as good, and generally doesn't look as good, as a Superstock. The went to 5 vs 5 (on track) the following year, and I think everybody did the same until Rotorua a couple of seasons back? Rotorua had 4 vs 4, but with 2 reserves each. I don't know what Gissy ran, but 5 car teams (4 vs 4 on track, and assuming there's only one reserve?) is so last millennium. Barry B

I stand to be corrected (enter stage left TimSOZ) but I think the very first one at palmy, which was rain interrupted was 5v5,won by Rotorua who went to 4v4. It then stayed that way for a few years. My own preference? Well seen as you asked, on the big sweeping Waikaraka track it should be 5v5.

Only been the last 6 years. And wolnt be going as I don't get holidays until February. But will say in the last 6 years the best quilfing night was palmy 2014. Was massive. And best finals night was rotorua 2015 with 4 vs 4. But they had to do with there non quilfing teams format. Was gold. Should be returned. Second best finals night was palmy 2013. It also depends who's racing who. And who close and great those races are. From rotorua huntly vs Christchurch. Who could forget kyle lanes two car pass on the last concer to win or ethans race against rotorua or James Kirk single handedly in his first race of the weekend winning for the g.

Event Format: 5. Points are awarded as follows: 1st 100, 2nd 40, 3rd 25, 4th 20, 5th10 So now you can get 2nd 3rd 4th and 5th and still win. How do you figure that? Barry B

It's a mathematical malfunction!
Gregobro will correct me if I'm wrong but in recent years I believe the teams racing at Waikaraka has been 5 vs 5. So it is slightly curious that a national title would revert to 4 vs 4.
Historically I think the Alleycats have been a better 4 car team than a 5 car team but the Stockcar division has such depth now at Waikaraka a 5 car team may have been more beneficial.
In any case the competing teams know it's 4 vs 4 and can tailor their build up races to suit.

Of course with being 5 car teams more teams may make it thus making the saving of space irrellevent, and being a sanctioned NZ title can not turn teams away.

I would like to see the adoption of rotoruas 2 reserve scheme. It takes a lot of pressure off teams and drivers having the spare cars and we will see teams happily benching drivers who might be a bit under the weather rather then pushing through. In this modern day where head injuries are in the focus this could be a helping hand in driver welfare.

They brought the 2 car rule in because Christchurch entered a team with Jay knight Josh petience Kyle lane and Tyler walker. Tyler had to with draw due to his club. (If my memory is correct) they won there semi and we're later disqualified. But at the end of the day. Clubs should of been picking those drivers. So in came the one bring in rule as the title almost went to the all star team. So that's why only one bring in. For memory was a hotly debated topic at the agm. Na, it was always gunna be 2 car reserves before anyone had even entered, never mind having named their teams

Four weeks tomorrow.. Do we have a confirmed list of teams yet? Not the drivers as such, but tracks that are sending a team?
