I think there will still be a few more entries I'm sure some of the other Wellington drivers were planning to be there.

Are 52h, 53h, 78h, 78a, 193h not racing the NZ title?
Good to see 119h added to the entry list

Certainly seems to be an imbalance in the groups. With 9 out of the 13 cars in Group 1 qualifying I can't see any of the major players struggling, but there's 4 drivers in this group that are either current or past Champions and none in Group 2 at all.

Yeah, must admit to be being a tad surprised when I first read the groups. Not sure the person who seeded them knows the players. To be honest they can't do as the groups are pretty unbalanced. Luckily 9 go through from each group so most of the fancied guys should still survive ok I would like to hope! Will mean some of the less fancied guys may get into the finals from the weaker group though. All good stuff!

Wow. such small numbers. Guess wont be any 2nd tier racing on night 2 as of the 7 who dont make top 20 there will prob be a few with damage or issues etc.
How many at the NZ champs in the last couple of years. The podium finishers will deserve their numbers for sure in what will be a quality finals group but sheesh.
Its nearly a case of picking who will miss out on finals, rather then who will get in.
Stratford drivers should fancy sleves, Foxy always goes well at Stratford. Lane is running good and id love to see him with a number,

Yes, wouldn't be surprised if the Mod Consolation races were downgraded or even eliminated; I'd be almost amazed if all the cars were still in perfect working order after Night 1. After a bit of a spike over the last few years I see the car numbers at the Sprint Car Champs have settled back to pretty much the same as Mods again.

Given the bad luck with mechanical failures the NI mods are having this season I wouldn't be shocked if there was only 20 cars (or less!) left running for the Saturday. Believe it or not more NI Modifieds have appeared this season than at any point last season (and we are only halfway through), but the shear number of cars being sidelined after 1-2 meetings means car counts per meeting have been dismal.

NZ Sprintcar entries are down this year because it is at Western Springs. There are more entries for the Sprintcar Gold Cup the week later at Ruapuna. I would say Cromwell next year will have in excess of 40 entries

Yeah SNZ Speedway Titles are losing their prestige.Tracks can promote any class they like now and if they do it right with some well known competitors in the promoted class you have spectators walking through the gate. For instance in the South island the 2018 CTRA New Zealand sprintcar Title is coming up there may be 15 competitors entering it or there could be 30 competitors entering who knows. But the winner will walk way with a trophy with NZ CTRA Sprintcar winners name on it and no one will care what speedway body was promoting it.On the trophy will be New Zealand thats all the matters.Cost to run in this Title, licenses etc compared to prize money paid out will probaly be will cheaper than running in the SNZ one but once again who knows. Some thing i do know the beer at the bar of the promoting track is certainly cheap.

I don’t think SNZ titles are losing there Prestige. Think different promoters do better jobs than others. Also think competitors are very aware of there experience at different tracks and different titles and are very aware of what will give them the most enjoyment. We’re an amateur sport after all! Back to topic What are the average number of sprint cars at war of the wings meetings this year? Suspect every war of the wings meeting this yearwould have more racers than the nz mods? Anyone substantiate my speculation with facts?

There will be 31 sprintcars at the gold cup meeting at Ruapuna at the end of the month but sprintcars are real strong in the south island at the moment, they get average 25 every war of the wings meeting but best of luck to Jamie Fox this weekend and hope Bradly lane does well to,he was so close at the ni champs.
