The rule book says no open tube style diffs for stockcars, what does that term open tube style diff mean? please thsnks

Open tube diff is any diff where the oil can go done the open tube, I.e the axles run inside the diff tubes with oil around them. Rule is probably so if you break any axle/tube no oil gets onto the track

Rule is probably so if you break any axle/tube no oil gets onto the track Ummm... thats closed tube. named because the axles are enclosed in the tubes.... open tube is the type the saloons etc run, quickchanges etc. any diff where the axle itself is not covered, like in a independant diff setup in a commy or a winters in a superstock.

Or very ugly? LOL Always found it strange that a stockcars not allowed an open tube diff below and behind the driver, but is allowed an open albeit covered driveshaft right between the drivers legs. Just goes to show what they are interested in protecting more!
