I'm not sure what is written in their rules. Or if it's even written into their rules.I know the last time they staged a runoff it was the next day. Barry B Simple solution is a coin toss. Neither team is going to be eliminated and I'm sure neither team want any damage before the semifinal. Having a run-off should only be needed if it was to secure a tier 1 or tier 2 position.

Coin toss is probably the best solution. then no-one can be accused of 'trying not to win'.

They will either just flag race or coin toss. Will the coin toss be done on the infield or in the Panthers trailer...π
I'm guessing they didn't do it last night as everyone was leaving straight after the B vs H race as the commentator had no idea what was going on and then they would cop even more s#@%.
Well done Malcolm, if it wasn't for him...the commentary would have been a non event.

I think the last run off was due to a points tie in a group situation. This certainly is a lot different, and a coin toss would be quite acceptable I think. Barry B

Two tier one semi winners race for 1st and 2nd. Highest scoring losing tier one semi finalist races the highest scoring tier two semi winner for 3rd and 4th. Lowest scoring losing tier one semi finalist races lowest scoring winning tier two semi finalist for 5th and 6th. And I believe there is no race for 7th and 8th. It's confusing yet it makes sense lol

Following is how it was explained: The 14 teams will each have 2 races qualifying night (Saturday), with the teams scoring points over both races to find 4 qualifying semi-finalists. Points are awarded to the first 5 finishers in each 10-lap race as follows: 100, 40, 25, 20, 10. The top 4 teams from last year's semi-finals were seeded into positions 3, 6, 9 and 12 prior to the draw, so that they would not face each other. The 4 top scoring teams will advance to the Tier 1 semi-finals on Sunday, with the next 4 highest scoring teams moving to the Tier 2 semi-finals. All races on Sunday are decided by 1st across the line. The race for 5th and 6th overall will be between the lowest scoring losing Tier 1 semi-final team and the lowest scoring winning Tier 2 semi-final team. The race for 3rd and 4th overall will be between the highest scoring losing Tier 1 semi-final team and the highest scoring winning Tier 2 semi-final team.

Even though it states all races today are first over the line points are still vital as they will determine who races for the minor positions. I wonder how long it took to think all this up? Seems to me that it was designed to fill out tonight's program, otherwise the tier 1 semi-final team with the highest losing points total would be 3rd and the second losing tier 1 semi-final team 4th. Or is that too simple? Mind, you can never have enough great teams racing.

Nick Vallance blocked so well in last race..Tigers had no answer. Why we're lights thrown 2 orange so fast for Vallance yet Hb got 2mins after chequered flag.. The Officials gave HB every chance to get the 10pts required to get into the final 4. The Orange lights should have come on a long time before then Baypark would have been in the final 4, they deserved it with two hard fought wins, they must be gutted. Also the run-off should have happened tonight to give teams time to prepare for semi's tomorrow. R12-4-68 Racing will continue until all able vehicles have completed the lap they are on when the chequered flag is shown. It's up to the officials to determine if as vehicle is able to finish. That's why you sometimes see the orange lights thrown very quickly, because all mobile cars are moving at race pace while other times there is a crippled car limping along the wall and it takes them a minute or two to get across the line. Throwing the lights early against the Hawkeeyes would have robbed them of points they rightfully earned.

Coin toss is probably the best solution. then no-one can be accused of 'trying not to win'. I think it should be a run off ....... and whoever wins get to choose if they are 3rd or 4th. Just like in a coin toss - someone gets to choose - but they get to race to choose. Also like whoever is on pole, gets to choose outside or inside. Got to win pole first to get that choice. But going to be an interesting run off tonight in any case.

From memory a similar situation happened a couple of years ago & 1 of the managers said the other team could have the win rather than potentially picking up damage when you least want it
