As Mosen said “it’s an economic outcome .. For example would the RFA accept say $300pa from SPL for a new lease? Peanuts to someone in Buckley's league. At that price $3oo pa i would donate it as a donation and ask Bill for a receipt so i could claim it off my tax ...

So the council charges $150 000 per year As anyone worked out what the council get for parking each meeting : : But then I have heard as a gossip not fact that Buckley pumps in a lot : so if they had 100'000 through the gate at Average $30 a head thats over 3 million where does that money go after expenses if the council took $5 for each ticket like Palmy does : That would be over $500,000 by my reckoning I'm sure that would make the profitability improve for council

According to this 2013 interview Bill has 'thrown at least $2 million into the money-eating machine that is the speedway'.

you have to wonder where the RFA gets the massive upkeep costs figure from.
Electricity costs would be paid by the lease holder, maintenance costs by the lease holder (how many times have we seen Scott Buckley running about fixing stuff?) Water usage would be paid by the lease holder. What is left? Rates? A tax paid to the council anyway.
The costs like adding in the new seating is a capital expense by the council and not a recoverable expense so does not come into calculations

I do believe that Bill lost around $1 million per season over three years bikes were in auckland- simply because of cost factor bringing them here and poor turnout of fans that came watched. first year about 12,000 second year just under 6 and last one little over 9,000 in order for it remain auckland last one had get crowd of 20,000 keep it here.. basically every year ran at substantial loss.

western springs speedway not cheap place for likes of families attend how many can afford nearly $100 over international series. compared when i first went crowds were massive was affordable night out for families.. nowadays with cost to attend along with buying food on the night. just doesnt leave little chamge for many who strugling anyway. with springs running at loss crowd numbers are pretty poor 10,000 through the gate at the best is not sustainable. you can go movies for couple hours about $20 thats including popcorn and drink. entertainment package is good for $35 it's really tough for alot Auckland families afford go on regular basis. hence reason crowd numbers have suffered over the years.

The privilege of buying food is up to the individual who makes the choice at these venues ,its nice to have a treat but if the pennies in your pocket dont stack up ,bring a apple . To many just moan about the cost of gate entries ,but i guess a packet of smokes a day is cheaper ,a quiet beer at home ,and dont forget a punt on the horses. Some Pensioners get $616 per fortnight and you see a majority come through the gates each season ..

Families that go speedway will want something extra just spend 4 hrs on the terraces being food drinks and ice blocks for the kids. $70 + the rest does make for expensive night out. keeping the prices down will in fact get more bums on seats. what saves events not overpricing those who regulars can still afford their weekly fix of methanol. nowadays entertainment in auckland not cheap with cost of living.. someone has to pay the extras, get these drivers here wheres in the old days used be paid appearance fees. i think most of the time cost is picked up by team who bring out these drivers. prize money has increased get drivers down here. at the expense of fans paying more get into the stadium. even some who bring KFC been told they cannot bring it in, only buy food there. what happened to when you could bring your own chillybins with food and drinks etc. no longer allowed which is shame.

If you didnt see a show like you do, thats more times than one ,is because of lack of funds ..

The food at Waikaraka is actually quite nice and prices are no different to your local fish and chip shop. Western springs food is yuck and twice the price of Waikaraka go figure.

You may well wonder how they can sell hot food out of one of those caravans without a health food license ..no wonder the hot dogs have chilli sauce on them ,.

I HATE the stupid buns they use at Western Springs so refuse to buy their food. For some reason they use disgusting buns with flour all over them, they are terrible. The flour is supposed to go in the bun before baking not on it afterwards.
