At their meeting last night I see Baypark put out a calendar for the 2018/19. From an open wheel perspective it has the following highlights:
THURSDAY 13th DECEMBER - INTERNATIONAL SPRINTCAR SERIES A potential expansion to the International Sprintcar Series with a Thursday night round at Baypark Speedway. One assumes Springs Saturday/Saturday and Palmerston North Tuesday to make a four round series.
FRIDAY 28th DECEMBER - INTERNATIONAL MIDGET SERIES What looks to be the second round of the IMS will be down the road at Baypark. We can only hope for a repeat of the outstanding 2017/18 race win by Sunshine.
SATURDAY 16th MARCH - NORTH ISLAND MIDGET TITLE
What I don't see is any reference to Rolling Thunder though there are a number of meeting dates where shows are yet to be announced.

Hope next year's international midget meeting the whole night is good midget racing, not just a few laps of the feature which I missed anyway because I was so disgusted by then.

a pity 'NZs most suited for Sprintcar racing' track is still missing- Ruapuna for sure, just that creek in the middle that makes it too big a challenge. Those cars/drivers on Ruapuna would be an awesome meeting

One hopes they clean up there act. Was there last season after a concert. The grass in front of the stand to the right of the pit chute was soaking wet & smelt like a sewer, in the pits were overflowing port a loos. Was there again on Saturday night and there was raw sewerage overflowing from a drain, tried to cross the pit chute to get away from it, was forced by their over zealous security to walk through it, security wouldn't let us cross the pit chute. Absolutely disgusting, could be an awesome venue if meetings were run better & a good clean up done after each event.

Oh, I agree Baypark is poorly run and it appears everyone I talk to when there has the same opinion. However the track and facility in general is still good and I enjoy open wheel racing there. i have often thought of going to Ruapuna. Need to see what’s on next years calendar.

NZ Sprintcars Champs are in Cromwell next year & then the GP is at Riverside in Invercargill & then Gold Cup is at Ruapuna so hopefully they put it all together with a week or 2 so it would be a worth while trip to make maybe.

Ruapuna is great racey track, usually allows for a top line and slide jobs. Some of the best sprintcar racing in NZ I have seen has been at Ruapuna.
Now if Meremere and Ferndene were still operating they would all run pretty close.

Ferndeene was super fast ,we won there in I think about 1998.Blinky hit the wall totalled the car pretty much so every one pitched in and got him out for the feature ,It was furking freezing that night as well .Never forget it .
