Clash of dates how ridiculous, can one be ,a snz title versus a overseas (chilli bowl )one which only the elite can afford .. It sounds just like the present government and the opposition in the house throwing there toys out of the cot Mr speaker i cannot attend this meeting due to prior arrangements can you cancel that date ,no sorry it is set and just because youve had a fare share at the winning post doesnt mean others cant have a crack at such a prestige title .. As for the crowd attendance ,this is a country type club ,and the cows always come home to milk ..

Perhaps you missed my post on the first page of this thread but I'll spell it out a little clearer for you.
Realistic Dates are: January 12th - Chili Bowl (Tulsa) January 19th - Chili Bowl (Tulsa) January 26th - February 2nd - NZ Sprintcar Title (Cromwell) February 9th - NZ TQ Title (Ruapuna) February 16th - February 23rd - NZ Stockcar Teams (Stratford) March 2nd - NZ Modified Grand Prix (Stratford) *Note this event should have choice of date after the NZ Midget Title March 9th - March 16th - March 23rd -
I can't find a date for the Australian Speedcar Title - need to slot that one in as well. Subject to that event the ideal date would appear to be the following weekend on January 26th. That weekend should be Auckland anniversary weekend which would boost spectator attendance from Auckland. Springs doesn't normally run that weekend so it seems to work great. Second option is Feb 16th. Springs did run this date in 2017/18 but I'm sure that could be worked through. March 9th is likely to be the final night of the Springs season so 3rd and 4th options would be Mar 16th and 23rd. The Du Quoin USAC race will likely be March 9th so these two dates should be open.

I would of thought with the Midget class, and the vast majority of top cars/drivers being contracted in Auckland, that Stratford would be expecting a fair percentage of their spectators to travel down from Auckland too. That is where the core fan base for this class resides. I suspect many would consider not attending if they were aware several of the top contenders were not entrants. That's just looking at it purely from a commercial perspective. MP alone is worth a number of bumbs on seats.

Maybe they chose this date because they knew that a number of top competitors would not attend and give their locals more chance of winning ?

Speculation in many cases can cause a vast opinion of differences ..

Maybe they chose this date because they knew that a number of top competitors would not attend and give their locals more chance of winning ? I guess most cynics would tell you exact same thing.. Stratford hosting NZ Champs same weekend chilli bowl is on. would think keep American drivers taking the locals title back with them.. holds alot of substance.

why would the date of the Aussie title ever be a consideration?
If people care more about going to race the aussie title instead of their own maybe they should move over there.
We had that once before when a bunch boycotted the NZ Midget Champs and went and did the Aussie Champs instead. I was very pleased when they bombed out.

couldnt agree more Magilla. It must be hard enough for tracks to slot dates in with the domestic calendar, let alone the international one

I'm sure the Americans are very reasonable people - I mean, just take their President as an example - surely if someone was to write to them pointing out the clash of dates they would be only too happy to reschedule Chilli Bowl.
