Rather than write a long platitude of paragraphs to which means very little ,one may say next time you go past a wishing well ,have a good look for a gold coin .. If you think I am wishing things were different, possibly. I think if you read what I said again it you might find that it does actually mean quite a lot. All the best to SPL and the competitors - I really do hope it works and I sincerely wish the fans embrace it longer than the 2 seasons Bay Park managed to hold on to good will. As you say, wish in one hand and crap in the other - we all know which hand fills up fastest. I am done. My comments and thoughts on Magors have been about the big picture, the sport and the fans - not about factions or personalities. Good luck to everyone and see you on the other side. GoFast out.

I remember the springs before the restriction to 12 meetings per year. As I recall crowd numbers were fine.

I am quite sure those who have investigated the possibilities have put one step forward and not two steps backwards .. I hope so too....but I recall only a month ago that there was no intention of moving...Has there been enough time for a thorough due diligence? Never under estimate the stroke of a pen to paper ,as you can witness ,Closed doors with no flies in the ointment bring the best results to all down the home straight ... As a consolation prize once a year i would enjoy seeing a Superstock teams event ,similar to the one at palmy ,and the Super saloon nationals with a few overseas competitors race at this new venue ,it has great merit ..

so is Buckley putting money into this?
If not then what is the guarantee that SPL will be running it anyway? If the council builds and owns the venue and puts it out to tender ...
or has then been another backroom deal done?

Just a heads up for the drivers... Unless the above gets changed, you may want to makes sure your cars are not backfiring. have you been to Western Springs Speedway? The cars there do not backfire during racing

If they manage to get this happening it has to be a thousand times better than sharing Wacky Park and a million times better than kicked out with nowhere to go. Still prefer to stay where we are but it seems that option is gone

Council said they outing in $5 million & RFA putting in $5 million & the rest would be Buckley

I hope they put in a helipad so we dont get caught in the traffic ,and have to pay extra fuel taxes .. Completely off topic....never thought that one through...Will avgas attract the fuel tax? If so, does that apply to the airport and international airlines? I am sure regional airlines will arrive with enough fuel to fly out again if it was taxed. I ask this as the airport is a huge user of fuel. Back on topic again....

So it seems Buckley and co have been working on Plan B for a while--Unless the council can fast track Consents ?? However roll on 2020 for the grand opening of Southern Springs purpose built speedway--1/2 hour Traveling is a lot better than travelling 2 or 3 hours !! I look at the facilities at huntly and reckon it is located in a great spot and normally put on a great show Hope that southern springs will look at huntly and use that for a prototype ..

Whats so bad about us lot at WP? magilla nothing, some great people involved in WP, I have good friends over there. Everyone loves their sport, just I do not think that it would work lumping everything together sharing one venue. Also the different classes require different tracks to be at their best, be it shape, surface prep etc.

Anybody else note that on the news item last night (TV 1), it was stated there were going to be 2 tracks built at Colin Dale Park. TV 1 , or the general mainstream media, ain't exactly known for getting the facts right on sports such as speedway, but they distinctly said it. Perhaps there might be an inner/outer type thing, to cater to Kiwikids etc?, or they could have bollocked their news item as usual lol. Hope the designers don't go overboard and make a track too vastly different to what works in this part of the world. Don't need an Eldora or Lawrenceburg type deal. I'd look to some of the Aussie tracks to get an idea, rather than America. Brissy, Warnambool, Mt Gambier etc, all produce brilliant open wheel racing on tracks that are no bigger than the current Springs, just better shaped. wider in some cases, and most importantly, just the right amount of banking, and track surface. Make it "big" and car numbers will go downhill fast as is happening over at the Motorplex in Perth. Here's the deal.... take the Springs, shorten the straights by 15-20 metres, widen and round out the straights so there's no tunnel effect coming off of the corners, widen the radius of the corners to maintain the length to around 400metres or so, and add a few degrees of banking, ( progresssive banking possibly) to encourage multiple lines. Done...dusted...cheque please. The only sour note I personally have on the deal, is the backroom stuff that must have gone on proceeding the announcement. Buisness is buisness I guess.
I'm openwheel through and through, but gotta say sincerely,i hope WP isn't left to flounder by the council. Wouldn't be fair at all.

Second track maybe a reference to the proposed Kart track at the venue that has been in the planning for a number of years.

OK thanks. Would I be right in assuming nothing has been built there yet? People have mentioned karts, jet boats, moto-x training track etc.
