Interesting Calendar as they put the $1 Million Sprint Car Shoot Out on same weekend as Ruapuna Gold Cup (25/26th) which some drivers will be making a trip out of it on way to NZ Champs in Cromwell which the same weekend Springs has put the Barry Butterworth on the 2nd February.

Barry Butterworth night will undoubtedly not have Rainout date, along with king of the springs..why on earth is opening night down with rainout date is bit stupid.. when there is no real championships on opening night.

What is annoying is I know for a fact that Ruapuna contacted SPL about the Gold Cup date and were told that Springs would not be on that weekend.
Then to have the Barry B on the same weekend as the NZ Sprintcar Champs?
I would comment my thoughts on the guy but those words are not allowed on here and moderator would have to delete my post.

If any real money will be up for grabs in the sprintcar shootout almost guarantee the format will be run similar to the scott darley at parramatta, i.e. only the top qualifier will have the option to start from the rear of the field and have to win the event to claim the main prize whatever that may be. With the chance of 20 cars running the main event on a tight western springs track that virtually amounts to mission impossible. Looking forward with interest as to what will actually be offered and the format involved.

Will be aload of nuts. Either a play on words or you must lead every lap, of every qual race, plus start from c main, and the rear, of the b main, and win A main from the rear. Some may take that up.
Either way it has people talking already

Interesting fact in regards to the 2018/2019 season is with the 4 international midget meetings, throw in 2 international sprintcar meetings, rolling thunder super saloons, and now the sprintcar stampede this means spl could be calling 8 of their planned 12 meetings premier meetings and charge accordingly.

Just seen this on facebook
SPRINTCAR DATES RESOLVED
A highly positive meeting between Greg Mosen, Promoter at Western Springs Speedway and Rob Roxburgh from the Ruapuna Speedway Promotions team has seen Western Springs rejig its calendar to avoid a clash with Ruapuna's premier Sprintcar event, the Gold Cup.
"Greg is now more aware as to the importance of this event on our calendar and has agreed that in the best interests of Sprintcar fans, competitors and the southern track he will not be scheduling a major Sprintcar race on the same night as the Gold Cup," said Roxburgh.
This will now clear the way for a huge week of Sprintcar racing on the mainland with the Gold Cup scheduled for January 25-26, the New Zealand Grand Prix at Riverside, Invercargill on January 29 and then the nationals at Cromwell on February 1 and 2.
Roxburgh is also hopeful that the face to face meeting will go further towards creating a working relationship between New Zealand's two premier open wheel speedway tracks. " We would love to have a closer relationship with Springs Promotions. Traditionally Bill Buckley and his team have treated us well and done what they can to help. That stretch of water between the North and South Islands does make it tough, but we would really love to work with Greg in further promoting our classes in Christchurch. We had a really positive meeting with an eye to the future and we discussed things that can only have a positive outcome. There is no doubt that we have more to gain from a relationship than Western Springs does, but Greg sees the value in speedway being strong in the South Island."

who has all that money at once? I do and I guess so would many others. $280 isn’t a huge amount these days, but you can pay it off from now to the start of the season if you wish. The only requirement is that it is fully paid for prior to opening night.
