Anyone know if a south Is car has won this title? Or who from the South has been on the podium in the last 20yrs? About time the South bought Home a win

I think Bruce Hobbs did 1980s, would of been last south island driver won nz title. Roger gleason he may been north islander definitely Hobbs

Always thought Ian Easton was one unluckiest drivers at nz titles. back late 1980s shannon farmer was exceptional at North island titles, when it came nz title 3 times runner up. Twice noel goodwin just wasnt meant to be.

Splitting hairs- If thats the case Austen Wheatley from the USA is the last 'South Islander' on the podium. He was contracted to either Cromwell or Ruapuna...cant remember which. I have a feeling Simbo was contracted to Ruapuna one year when he got grumpy with the Springs promoter, and ended up on the podium. Am looking forward to seeing the TAB odds for this championship.

Simbo was understandably upset when he got shafted by a referee ruling that robbed him of the National Championship. All started by a tq dumping oil in turn one that was not cleaned up just before a run off for 1st place. Simbo was well and truely screwed over

everyone south of Bombay counts Duff as a Chch win. Yeah, and last time I looked Manawatu wasn't in the South Island either (re Ian Easton)....

For all who havnt seen Kofoid buckle in blistering fast and uses every inch of dirt nearly lapped the whole field at Cromwell someone said he isnt Jmac Pickens pace be prepared for a shock as he is good and he will go very close my top three pick
