go back and watch coverage of gold cup at ruapuna. a couple of the drivers were putting right rear well up the wall, lap after lap. That seems to be something you can do at Ruapuna and survive, maybe even gain, but not at Cromwell. If they thought JMac's hit, with both ends of the car, gave him an advantage? I'm wondering whether the hot dislodged his transmitter and he was manually inserted into the results later. The commentary missed it (it was virtually under the comm box) and he slowed immediately, so there was definitely no advantage with about 3 laps still to travel. Best drive I saw was Connor Rangi's last Heat, and Kofoid looked good, but then I got home late and missed the start and fell asleep in the middle, so only saw MP race once (the one with the flat tyre) so a little hard to judge how they all went. I'm with Percy. My favourite track in the country. Barry B I think that was the case with JMac as orginally showed as a DNF but when looked later credited him in the finishing order.

Under SNZ rules you get points even if your classified a DNF. It’s called drop out points. The scoring system does not allocate points for DNF so they have to scored in a position ie 12th to over ride and allocate accordingly. As Jmac had a RR flat I’m assuming he would have been a DNF but would have received points for his finishing position. Before someone asks left side flats are fine but rights sides arnt under the rules.

From an officiating perspective the j-mac case is interesting.
He's been allocated points as he crossed the line (in 9th place). All 12 cars finished the race. He wasn't black flagged in the race. Without a rule book in front of me I'll ask the question if a car with a flat right side tyre finishes the race without being black flagged can they be excluded post-race?

Cant see how that rule applies if he was in 9th place and hobbled across the finish line out of 12 cars ..

Did the tyre go flat immediately after the hit Percy? From the stream I thought he got away with it initially even though he immediately slowed, and we didn't really see him again until he stopped on the track immediately after the chequered flag. I wonder whether it was slowly deflating? Or popped on the last lap? Barry B

And that right there is the key to it Barry. Whatever decision was made was the right one as they were there and everyone on here wasn’t. The Championship is in good hands with a great team down there so let’s sit back and tune into the awesome PitsTV livestream and enjoy what’s going to be an outstanding final night.

I see kofoid took out another 10 second lead in one of his heats, Has he ever really been challenged since he's raced here. I see one of the drivers on 23 points is in place 17, does that mean there's a runoff between the 4 cars on 23 points?

And according to the entry form info re format...they don't have run-offs for drivers on equal points afters the heats are all done. Ties are decided on fastest lap times recorded during the heats. Quite possible there will be a few grids decided that way, points being so tight.

After 5 heats there will be a doin chance of drivers tied on points. Unlike Stratford midgets with 2 heats and a heap of cars tied
