We've got the small matter of a meeting this weekend to get through but entries have closed for this year's edition of the Great Race (aka The Dirt Cup).
22 cars have entered which is the entire field from the NZ Champs, less 21H and 7c but with the addition of 6a. 30 laps of fury here we come.
And I'd also like to express a vote of thanks to two of the main sponsors of Team Fox, Brian from BDC Engineering and Roger from CSL Containers for getting in behind our two Premiere events.

Countdown is on to the race that is regarded by some as being harder to win than the NZ Champs.
Despite the widespread damage last Saturday, we've only lost one of the original entrants, 31s. 78h received a 30 day stand-down but there may be a guest driver in that car...........watch this space
7c did not enter and has gone home and 2NZ (21h) was not originally entered but is now reconsidering; and there may be one or two more new entries confirmed this week.
Long hours are being put in on 54gm, 63a, 81a and 119h and all are anticipating making the start line for what will be another night of full-on Mod racing.

oh was 78h naughty? do you have a list o the past winners? I am guess J Fox is there a fair bit Due to the excessive number of laps run on the yellow lights in heat 2, 78h (and most of the other cars) burnt probably 20 litres more fuel than anticipated. Consequently when he went on the scales after the race he was 4kg light........immediate disqualification and a 30 day stand-down. As for Dirt Cup history, Jamo will be back from holiday in a day or two and will no doubt fill you in on that. And for those who have asked, if there is a guest driver in 78h this week, it won't be me.

Those first ones in the 90s were awesome and wasn't it $3000 to win as well,Bertram and Murray Gordge had some great battles.

And now for the groups.
For various reasons we've lost a number of cars from the Champs; two of them never entered in the first place, but we've gained 8a.
Unfortunately the guest driver for 78h has regrettably declined and no, I won't name him.
18 cars in total, 3 even groups of 6
Group 1 - 1nz, 6a, 12s, 17w, 63a, 67s
Group 2 - 3nz, 24s, 54gm, 78s, 99a, 193h
Group 3 - 21s, 32gm, 71s, 78a, 81a, 119h
Format will be three heats, 1 vs 2, 1 vs 3, 2 vs 3 with the top 6 point scorers overall going into the Pole shuffle to determine final grids

Just thought 30 days when you're within the tolerance of the scales seemed a bit harsh. Actually 30 days for this class of offence is over the top IMHO.

The 30-day suspension is a hangover from the days when cars were rarely weighed outside of an allocated title.
A large disincentive was required to stop non-compliance.
Now we are weighing cars regularly across the country we no longer need such a harsh penalty. Exclusion from the previous race and not much more is required.

Sorry folks, minor slip-up on my part. Car 8a in Group 1 should have been 6a, Dave Williams (Aaron, you can stop panicing now)

This rule is set in the rulebook M7-4-1. You will need to go through you club representative for the SNZ conference to propose getting a remit to change this.
