The talk around town is Asher Rees is leaving Woodford Glen Speedway and is of to race back up north , To race next season with a K on his car. Very sad after speaking to the local crowd and after all the rumours he wanted to put to bed he would be racing out of chch for next season.

Doesn't mean he can't shift though.

Is he moving or just changing track code? It seems as tho kihikihi are happy to offer this recent recruitment of drivers deals to race wherever they want as K cars. Win win I reckon, the club get representation around the country and the drivers are free to do as they please. Could be the future of the sport.

Could be the future of the sport. clubs like kihikihi could be ahead of the game. check out how many super saloons and sprint cars now have a k on them. there probably will be quite a few super stocks with a k on them as well. K is the new G....

Good on him , No different to the other drivers around NZ that drive past their own home track to register elsewhere.

Mukka Motorsport facebook page:"feeling excited. Who seen this coming ? !! ? Mukka Motorsport have some exciting news to announce!! ASHER REES is Joining the Mukka Motorsport Team come race season 2019 - 2020 and onward into the future. We had a plan to set out and that was to have the race cars looked after on and off the track so they get full preparation during the week and race ready come each Saturday night but we always wanted to do this by supporting a race car driver in the class and having them benefit from our team structure too. So we thought there is no better to have someone who knows how to race them, set them up and also build them. Mukka Motorsport are excited to have Asher aboard and come August 2019 it all Kicks off with full prep towards the new race season, Asher will be the Race Car Engineer who is employed by Mukka Motorsport to work on the cars and team structure week in and out, with myself and Asher having brand new cars for this year he already has lots of work to do! The support and package is there for Asher to also enjoy himself on the weekends and come race night as his car is included in the weekly work program along with our support partners creating a 3 car team to financially and sustainably race / enjoy the season for us all. There will be a bigger release with details forward for Mukka Later in the month, The confirmed drivers will be , Asher Rees 126 Dan Pole 371 Benji Sneddon 471 We are largely in the planning phase for the team and setting out the structure and seasons roles for each member / driver in the team. All i can say is this season isn't going to be a miss and we hope to entertain and catch up with everyone on and off the track. Asher Rees will still run A.R Motorsport for his personal exposure and also to keep his fans and loyal supporters happy and up to date so don't hesitate to still contact and follow him for his progress during the racing season. Catch up with more info shortly, our next post will be a 2018-2019 season wrap up , then it all kicks into the new season for details on cars, support partners of the team, race calendar etc... So keep an eye out on the page!!"

Simple really. I will be staying loyal to Christchurch & Malcolm Ngatai.
After all Malcolm & Woodford Glen had put into last season and the huge amount of dollars spent I couldn't justify droping and leaving them. Its only fair to give back where we can.
This doesn't change nothing for the Eagles. The team will still be a force, we have lost ones pace.. but gained anothers teams racing smarts and experience, all will be revealed soon enough but fair to say I'm pretty excited with the young gun who will be contracting out of Woodford Glen next season, and I know for a fact he won't disappoint π
Cheers

Not sure if thatβs a dig, when itβs been articulated that itβs family illness that has forced the move north. Good luck with Family team 126. As for Kihikihi - wonder how many superstocks that is now? And wonder how many of them want to teams race? Definitely makes things interesting with another team wanting to join.
