After his derogatory finance committee remarks on video towards Waikaraka Park and contact classes Mr Buckley has no credibility with me. Sorry. I don't know the man at all, and I admire what he's achieved in business, but as an outsider looking in it seems he's got rather too used to saying jump and expecting every one within 500 miles asking how high sir?

palmy speedway has been charging $25 for all meetings and more for big meetings for years.in a city where an average house now cost moonbeams, if you are on a budget or are just cheap, go to rangeview If yr on a budget or just cheap , go to Rangeview Not really the correct answer im afraid . Speedway relies on the paying public to survive and if you are going to dish up meetings that the fans are not wanting to go and see or you are going to make speedway so unaffordable that the fans will opt to stay home , then the future of your track will look pretty bleak. It has shown in the past at Baypark when their gate prices were through the roof and meetings along with a poor track pushed many fans away. I just hope the new team cater for everyone when it comes to racing , because if they dont their loss will be Rotorua,s gain.

As highrevs correctly points out,the last 5-6 years at BP have seen a steady decline in competitors, spectators, advertising and track preparation. This has surely got to be the last lifeline for a lifeless venue. The new team has a huge task ahead Lets hope they focus on a good, safe surface. This may encourage competitors/visitors to return, resulting in better racing and higher spectator numbers It will take a long time to win everyones trust back I hope they dont go down the same path of offering a huge calendar thats full of nothing meetings with small fields. The 3 previous "promoters"proved that that was a recipe for disaster My suggestion would be 8-10 meetings max, with every class racing for some sort of title every night Good luck

Did you question his ability to host the SGP for bikes There is to many with short sighted vision ,and who else sticks there hand in his own pocket forks out the prize money he does over a season at the Springs . More than likely you will see ministocks ,stockcars ,Superstocks ,race at Baypark ,so you need toget off your high horse Sir and travel 500 miles to see a decent show for once ..

How can you judge a person if you dont know them at all ? A little while back I was selected for the jury a fairly high profile trial that was to last about 2 weeks. When called up and not challenged I informed the judge I knew one of the accused. He asked why I didn't inform the clerk in the jury room? I told him I only knew him as Brownie, not by his full name which we were shown in the jury room. The judge, knowing they would have trouble getting a jury, and possibly a bit suspicious of my story asked how I knew "Brownie". Thinking on my feet I told the judge he was my dealer and I was immediately excused. I tell you that story, to tell you this story. In an election you are judging one person over another to run whatever the election is for. Do you get to know every candidate before an election u vote in? You don't need to know, or even have meet someone to "judge" them. Infact it would be fairly rare to do so. Did you question his ability to host the SGP for bikes how did the long term viability of that turn out? There is to many with short sighted vision ,and who else sticks there hand in his own pocket forks out the prize money he does over a season at the Springs . Umm if the promotion shouldn't be doing this, you might like to explain who should? More than likely you will see ministocks ,stockcars ,Superstocks ,race at Baypark ,so you need toget off your high horse Sir and travel 500 miles to see a decent show for once .. I'm very happy to travel 500 miles I would even walk 500 miles and I would walk 500 more just to be... SH!t sorry No where were we? Ah yes for a good meeting I'll travel any distance. The difference between now and 20 yrs ago is these days just a sniff of anything I don't want to sit thru and I stay home. I've been critical of the last baypark promotion as well, and before you ask I don't know him either, and I don't think the new promotion will do any worse. Maybe I shouldn't judge until I know him. Now midday hear that, it's the phone ringing and it's BB ringing to say jump.

So its a little obvious you dont meet the candidates standing for even the local body elections Sir ,to get to Judge or understand there portfolio,s on projects that could seriously affect you as a ratepayer ,if you pay rates that is . I do like the story about Brownie and can under stand why the judge would let you go, there was a Peanut telling the story that could jeopardize the out come .. Dont travel by electric trains down your way ,just carry that confederacy flag by foot ,singing sweet home Alabama for 500 k walk ,i would be generous and give you a food parcel ,and a blanket when you arrive at Baypark ..

I got no problems with Baypark shifting focus to being a Horsepower track, as long as it get good fields, and runs a tight entertaining show.
Baypark is NOT for the contact classes UNLESS there is 30+ Cars in EACH HEAT. Its too BIG.
I believe tracks will become specialized and only contract 4-5 classes forcing people who want to race in a different class to travel to a nearby track. THIS will only benefit the sport as the fields will be come full and more entertaining for the paying customer.
With the current system ... Track X has 5 Streetstock while Track Y has 7 BUT both insist on running on the same weekend.
If Track X said as of 2025 they will ONLY run Streetstocks twice a year as a feature, then the 5 Streetstock driver will either contract to said nearby track, filling their field, or selling to buy possible a Stockcar either way everyone wins.
NOW I hear the cry they will sell to get out of the sport, this may happen BUT we race because we want to race and generally will go to great length to do so ...
Just my thoughts BUT what do I know ... I think to far out of the box for most ...

If you can cast your mind back to the days of Peter Harford who run numerous classes at Baypark including Stockcars , Superstocks and Streetstocks it was proven that Baypark was suited to all classes . Baypark was the place be for the fans and they put on a fantastic show , so i see no reason why it cant be done again. Problem with several of the recent promoters is that they have run Baypark in their own best interests and not the interests of the paying fans . Simple reason as to why the stands were empty week in week out .

Typical response of most within speedway ...
People living in the past and not looking to the future or even acknowledging how thing have changed or need to change.
This is why the sport will never succeeded and attract the money or publicity of other Motorsports.

Both Jayrea and Highrevz are aiming for the same result but coming from different directions to achieve this. Jayrea, yes you need quality fields to put on a good show, Stratford has had a policy for many years which is probably why they are one of the most successful clubs, by Tues evening you must let your class rep know if you available to race Sat as the club has a min no of 8 for any class to be put on the programme. Other tracks may need larger min no's due to its track size, but the result of this is the public know they will be watching a reasonable sized field for Ht1 at least. Highrevz has a very valid point in pointing out that when Peter Harford was the promoter there was good fields of each class plus the stands were filled to a much larger no than probably the last 10 odd years. Sometimes pride needs to be swallowed and to go forward you need to look back and look at why did it worked then and why isn't it working now. The track Dynamics hasn't changed, the only change in the areas demographic is the population has grown which has to be a positive. Now need to look back to Peters days and forward to present and what has changed. Is it track prep, class's run, gate prices, field sizes etc. Probably good starting point would be to ask some of the competitors why they have left, [ IN DROVES OVER THE YEARS } and ask public what they liked about the past which they were willing to part with their money at the gates compared to today. Any promoter worth their position would do serious sole searching of past to present, NOT just say this is the product which is what I like and will be presenting like it or lump it. I as it is well known have super saloons as my preferred class but I'm not single minded enough to think any track would survive on that class alone and that is the same with any other class. As the old proverb goes, variety is the spice of life and we need all types of classes to appeal to as many people as possible. Council attitude and the curfew must also be added to the above. My hope is that the new promoter can take the track up a notch or two and competitors and public return in droves . P.S. Tracks need to compliment each other not compete for the same pool of vehicles, which over all is limited per track but combined make for a good show. Public pay their money to watch a good show, competitors do it to put on a good show which can only be done with good fields and a properly prepared race surface.

My hope is that the new promoter can take the track up a notch or two and competitors and public return in droves . Agreed . My point is that Baypark run at its best under promotor Peter Harford simply because he prepared a good track , run classes that people wanted to go and watch and run a tidy meeting . Baypark has virtually spiralled downhill since Harford left . I doubt gate prices have anything to do with it if you are putting on meetings that people are happy to attend , but in saying that they arent going to turn up and pay if the meetings are dull. It has shown in the past that if promotors at Baypark have a sole focus on open wheeler classes the fans will not turn up in large numbers . Whats wrong with looking back to the Harford days at Baypark and look to see why he was the most successful promotor at Baypark . Its not rocket science .

"No no no! The calendar must not get out as there has been word on another thread that Spies from the City of Sails will see what classes will be run and this along with the measurements of the safety fence netting they are obtaining via Nasa's American military satellite is very commercially sensitive info. This info could then be obtained by people in an underground bunker below the Mayor's office in the city of sails. These people would then decide if a game involving 2 bats a ball & 6 wickets gets played at a park in Auckland.! This game of hit the ball north of the big hill will then have such a huge impact on Bay Park Speedway they tell us." If there's another drought I don't think we've got much to worry about anybody seeing much. Stop claiming and editing my posts Mr Slideway's
