The annual Charlie Berntsen Trophy Stockcar meeting is always a highlight of the season at Fast Lane Spares Oceanview Family Speedway, and this year should be no exception. It's being held this Sunday, 1st December, at 5pm. Visiting Stockcars are welcome; please contact Damon Baxter on 021-023-47476 if you're interested in entering. For Superstocks, there are now only three chances to race at Oceanview before the Elite Mechanical NZ Superstocks in January. We're expecting a full field of Superstocks this Sunday, so would ask any visiting drivers wishing to have a skid to contact the Superstock class rep Cameron Jurgens on 021-711-635. Knowing who is coming helps us to promote the meeting, and also to allocate pit space. The iconic Charlie Trophy is always keenly contested, and current holder Dion Mooney won't give it up without a fight. This should be another awesome meeting at the Oval by the Ocean!

Something else I forgot to mention - there are a thousand reasons for drivers to enter the Charlie Berntsen Trophy, with a winner-take-all purse of $1000 up for grabs on Sunday!

The weather's fine and warm in Wanganui, although there's a bit of a breeze. Pit gates open at 2pm, public gates at 3.30pm. and we go racing for The Charlie from 5pm.

Palmerston North Speedway's facility is council owned, and part of their lease will be sticking to council policies. The facility at Oceanview is owned by the Wanganui Motorcycle Club and leased by the Wanganui Stockcar and Speedway Club. We ask people to be considerate of other spectators when smoking, but being right by the sea as we are, smoke normally blows away pretty swiftly!

Great to see another Mooney taking the spoils of this event. What else happened...? Who were the ones standing out in stockcars and superstocks?

Congratulations to 17-year-old Kaelin Mooney on his first big event win. He took out the CHarlie Berntsen Trophy and the winner-take-all $1000 purse last night by one point ahead of Luke Miers. Callum Sturzaker was third, after a runoff with Mark Johnston. 30 Stockcars took part, and there was plenty of entertainment. Kaelin was driving his father's car, as his own car blew its motor at Huntly the weekend before. This photo might give clues as to why this young fella is a pretty handy driver!

We like it.
