Great field. Great having a one night deal (not that I am in the right part of the country to head along).
Discussion point, I'm of the opinion that we don't innovate enough with our meeting formats to keep things interesting and different.
Being the grand prix, why roll out the usual 3 race finals format (and draw the night out into a marathon)....why not instead go with two qualifying heats and then straight to one race finals starting with D main thru to A main (used alot in us/Australia with open wheels with top 2 or 4 cars from d main moving to back of grid for C main etc)...big 30 or 40 lapper for the A main to finish the night. All cars/drivers get 3 races, opportunity to make up from a bad qualifier (hard but possible). Shorter night for fans, with interest in every race as well.

What year did 95P start racing. I can remember Clive driving a car with a sedan body back in the early 1970's. I'm pretty sure that's his car outside Charlie Berntsen

Just to be clear hbhornets, I agree for likes of NZ and NIs that a traditional 3 race format makes sense and I'm not for one minute suggesting the one race final becomes the normal (I fully understand the anti-one race view having been at the Rotorua/Huntly one race NZ superstock finals in 98 & 99). Reality being at this time of season whether its 1 race or 3 races I can't personally see there being a lot of intentional blocking or hitting either way - you only have to look at Huntly's Stockcars at Coalface a couple of weeks ago (alongside the Superstock teams), they all knew heading into heat 3 who was leading on points but it was a non event really in terms of action, even the commentators called that event a bit of a fizzer - and I'm sure you've seen your share of tame 3 heaters as well. My point was that we should be innovating and throwing in ocassionally some different approaches to change things up a bit. E.g. case in point Wellington's stockcar ultimate knockout, I heard that its got better and better over time with tweaks in format and its something different from the usual. And the example I'm using with the D main to A main is something I don't think we've seen before in the stockcar class and is a different test for car and driver when racing over say 30 laps...

Stockcars at the coalface was mainly top of the island cars from what I understand with not that many in reality likely to head to Greymouth for the New Zealand title, 1 week later at King of the arena in Palmy the 3rd heat was brutal with title contenders getting plenty of attention Having 93 entrants for the superstock GP wouldn't have been expected which is probably the reason for the 1 night meeting. Unfortunately for me I don't finish work until 6 so I'll miss a few races

Listen out for our chat with Bruce Robertson on Doing it in the Dirt radio this week and the format is...
4 groups (drawn at drivers meeting) 2 races per group (reverse grid)
Top 6 on points from each group Qual (24) Next 7 or 8? into repercharge (28 or 32) First 2 cars from repercharge into Finals
26 Car Final over 3 heats
Programme goes... First 8 races on the night are the NZ Superstock GP qualifying races Stockcars Sidecars Repercharge
From there usual race programme

percy just curious - I couldn't find the clause in the SNZ rule book, but do you know what the prize money is for the NZ Superstock GP ? M4-2-5 Track Grading for New Zealand and Grand Prix titles only (o) Minimum prize money for Grand Prix to be no less than 50% of the prizemoney minimum for New Zealand Titles.
Prize Money for national titles is contained in part n) of M4-2-5. For the NZ Superstock title it's $25,000. So the NZ Superstock Grand Prix prize money must be at least $12,500. As per the entry form prize money is $12,500 for this event.

I'm not sure how many 6 cylinder powered cars have won the NZ Superstock Grand Prix (3rd in 2011?), but 557c Darrel Wallace (Saus) has every chance in his grunty Chev V6. Also in contention and in good form after winning the Stratford Superstock Best Pairs is 28s Blair Uhlenberg.

I don't bet much, and I certainly wouldn't bet against these 2 Miers Motorsport cars featuring on Saturday night. Lots of teams coming.. Mukka Motorsport Red Waka Motorsport Suck It Up Joblin Motorsport Hutt Park Racing Dykstra Racing Team Uhlenberg ..Giants Probably forgot a few, can't wait. My 4 year old (great) neice Aurora loves speedway and is going to the NZ Superstock GP on Saturday night. Aurora always picks the pink cars and bikes and her favorite Superstock is 54p Bevan Humphrey. If more pink cars turn up they'll also be her favorites too. Aurora's absolute hero is Sidecar swinger Ange Pogson.

Dejavu for 591p as didn’t he hurt engine early last year and spend weeks on sideline waiting?
I also remember him saying they were going to get dare a new engine for 19/20 and use his old one as a back up spare?
