As its good a real title up for grabs, hopefully it's a good meet. People are complaining thats all drivers should support palmy this weekend. For one its not a major meet
Good luck Auckland

Interesting timing for this event by bruce with the globals on in palmy the same nite run by the same promoter you would of thought you would separate both events to try and capture as many drivers as possible for each event 24 for Auckland champs is still a good number mind you

A couple of central region cars may have gone down to Palmy. I don't think any P cars would have travelled up. With the 240's next weekend it is likely that if Auck didn't run there would be cars parked up for the weekend.

Well it is a good chance for some of the lower pecking order to have a chance of a podium finish Only two in my opinion for what its worth stand out and thats Kerry Remnant and Jared wade . But looking at the M cars entered one cant help think is it a trial for teams event just around the corner ,like wise for Auckland ,and if they run as a pack ,know doubt the massive crowd expected will surely be entertained ..

There is only 3 more opportunities outside of this coming saturday for guys to dial in their cars for the North Island Superstock champs that are wanting to compete for that title. It will be interesting to see how many out of towners decide to make the trip up to turn some laps before the 28th of March.

I don't think anyone if making the trip to the Jafaland Champs so they can get a car set up for North Island champs at the end of March.

Nice to see the Huntly Rotorua Mount cars supporting this event and Kihikihi, they are the cars with K on them. I think a K Superstock has raced at every north island track already this season and two or three cars were in Nelson in November but the meeting was rained out Well done Craig Chatfield on the third placing Nice work from Cam in the 8K, mixing it up in the third heat. only his second or third meeting in Supers and looking more comfortable with each race

The Auckland title is possibly the oldest title in NZ. It was first held in 1957 at the Epsom showgrounds under the stock car owners and drivers association. (SCODA) Further title races were in 1958 1959 at Epsom, then 1964 at Gloucester Park and in 1968 at Waikaraka Park also under SCODA. Also in April 1958 The Auckland Provincial stock car championship was held at Western Springs. This event was run under the Auto cycle union Speedway control board, today's Speedway New Zealand, and again in 1961. So if SNZ titles are the recognised championships then the Auckland title must be one the oldest. I'm claiming it is but it would be close as Aranui in Christchurch never ran a title race I believe.

Most of the younger generation wouldn,t of been born in that era that follow the sport to day but its really interesting and a good reminder on how old one is ageing . Epsom show grounds was great with Red Dawson & Johny Riley ,hot dogs were cheap and you could ride your bicycle home no worries afterwards ...
