Hey guy's I don't want to through a spanner in the works but my cross member is bolted to the chassis and the inside is 190mm and the outside is 160mm have photos but don't know how to get them on the sight. However these measurements are closer to donor car angles than with the spacer blocks.

Not Happy Reading Gary's points, I agree, I will need to raise steering box & idler. This will require lifting bonnet, radiator as well as lower top strut mounting points to raise bumper again. Changing steering box height will require changing steering wheel angle as well. Not a five minute job. This was brought to my attention by our vehicle checker as he was aware that we are travelling North. These changes have to be made! . Can't change or cancel ferry booking, try telling a 14y.o. no trip up north! Apparently the directors spent fourty minutes last meeting on this Thanks SNZ.

Hi there i am looking at getting into ministocks and not to sure about this ruling is there anything i should be asking to make sure car is legal? They are just looking to bring a rule out that these blocks that hold lowered front sub-frame onto main chassis rail. lowered front sub-frame is what they call it but some people may not have a clue. I don't know what its actualy call. this is picture that 72p put up Can you see thoes 3 silver bolts in a row on the "Lowered front sub-frame" which bolts onto a block above it thats welded onto main chassis rail your not allowed them ("blocks"). Hope that helps other wise just follow rule book. Is it me or the rulebook is too much detail on some things?

you can get the same angle on your bottom arms by shifting the top mount? but bumper hight could be a problem? cheers LOOPY

i have got a little sick and tired of this now and have had a good read of the rule book and found nothing to say that you can or can't have lowering blocks,,maybe i should push the boundary's a little further and bend our bottom chassis rail down 25mm lol because it doesn't say that you car has to be straight either
but read page 14 , 15 , 16 of your rule book on changes to rules and general regulations and see what you think because i don't think they can do anything about it till next agm but at the end of the day I'm not taking our 25mm spacers out but will park the car up instead ! even though the boy might like it

You could do that. However the scrutineers are only going to make a note of it for you to change it. I think the technical man (cant remember names) said it perfectly at the meeting we had "If its not in the rule book that does not mean you are allowed to do it"

So Cameron, did you take your spacer blocks out?
The green 72p machine looked to be going pretty well in that feature win!

After 3 full days, we removed our blocks from the cross member, know we have made the cross member so we can change it easily, we had to modify the radiator mounts, steering box and ilder mounts, top suspension mounts, bonnet, steering column, and the bottoms arms are still not the same angle as the donor car even with the bumper heights at the lowerest, so we are looking at alternative methods to get the arms to the same angle. eg bend lower arms, or remount front bumper high. Thanks Cameron 72p

have changed my one we too had to alter radiator mounts and everything else. We altered the bonnet and now it looks a right mess.

25mm tolerance on chassis measurements? Cutting the front of sway bar mount is altering it surely? But how many mini stocks have the sway bar mount sticking out past the front bumper?

We just found out about this issue last nite when we went thru scruitineering at Woodford Glen.I think there were about 7 or 8 cars affected.IWe were given until January the 9th to have them fixed or we wont be able to race.It put a real downer on the nite,so its either fix the cars or park them up...........

Yeah, TCofN, they've (Palmy Scrutineers) tried that one about the sway bar mounts here (Palmy), until they realised keeping the sway bar pressing in its unaltered form wouldn't work. So far at Palmy we have the following things brought to our attention by Palmy's scrutineers: 1/ Must have brake drum mounted on both sides of diff. 2/ Sway bar mount pressings, must be from original donor car, no custom fabricated mounts at all. They have since backed off once they realised that you can't run standard mounts without shortening them. 3/ No bigger than 3mm plate on wheel gate mounts. Have not had this written into our log book yet , though it has being mentioned a few times to me by the head Scrutineer. He also implied to me that 3mm is the biggest size any plate steel (other than head plate), is allowed anywhere in the car. My steering box is mounted to 6mm plate, will i have to change this? Unfortunately Ministocks are going to die, if SNZ or Scrutineers start interpreting a loosely written rule book excessively. There was never any picture or information on how to mount the sub frame. They reckon that if its not in the picture (the spacer blocks), its not allowed and also its not standard as per the donor car. If we used this logic, then surely we can't drill holes in our chassis rails to mount the sub frames, since no holes are drawn on the chassis diagram in the rule book. And also welding the sub frame would be illegal, since on the donor car its bolted to the chassis rail. Answer that one SNZ The Green Hornet ;D

Good points Gavin. I thibk we should all just change it and get on with things. I changed mine and had my first run with out them last night. The only thing i found was i had a little bit more bump steer.
