I'm planning to take my camper van and visit every Speedway NZ (car) track in one year, so I have been working out a plan based on the various provisional calendars starting from the central North Island. It's a bit of a squeeze to fit every track in, and it will mean missing some major events as I will be in other parts of the country (wanting to do it as a circuit - can't afford the fuel to drive zigzag across the country). Would love to hear your thoughts, suggestions, alternatives or experiences from anyone who's done/tried/thought about doing something similar.
Oct 21st - Meeanee - Opening Night Oct 28th - Gisborne - Opening Night
Nov 3rd - Rotorua - Fireworks Spectacular Nov 4th - Bay Park - Bay Superbowl and Fireworks Nov 11th - Kihikihi - Ministock Stampede Nov 18th - Huntly - Pollock Cranes Superstock Teams Nov 25th - Waikaraka Park - Six Shooter Predator Series Hopefully Western Springs (can't find a calendar for them yet)
Dec 2nd - Wanganui - Superstock Grand Prix Dec 9th - Stratford - North Island Saloon Champs week off Dec 26th - Wellington Boxing day Triple Champs Dec 30th - Nelson - Demo Derby
Jan 6th - Blenheim - TBA Jan 13th - Greymouth - War of the wings Sprint cars Jan 20th - Invercargill - Southland Stockcar Champs Jan 27th - Dunedin Southern Sprint Car Series
week off Feb 10th - Cromwell SI Saloon title Feb 16/17 - Woodford Glen - South Island Stock/Super Stock champs
Mar 2nd - Ruapuna - Sprint Cars
Then back to base in Palmerston North to catch one of the late season events - plus chance to catch up on any stragglers that were rained off during the trip

Wow. Hope you have a great trip. Almost wish I was coming along too.
Just note that Western Springs are not anticipating any meetings at the stadium until after Christmas 2023 at the earliest, due to the damage to the stadium from January's flooding.

Thanks for the info SpeedwayNut, If I've managed to achieve the majority of the tracks I might need to make a special trip in the new year to hit one of the later Western Springs dates if they get the track fixed.
Only 4 weeks until the excitement starts (weather permitting)

Moore Park speedway in Christchurch for NZ Sidecar Gp on 6th Jan, or maybe NZ solo GP on 17th Feb. I get that is more about going to the track than the event but you could prob buy a nifty fifty and strip it down, enter the solo GP and get a top 10 finish🤣

Good luck with the rest of the trip Zac. I purchased a camper and was looking at doing something similar but health issues interfered so that is no longer an option for me. Please keep up with your reports.

You need to put NZs best CTRA track on your list while you are in the South island that track being Ellesmere Speedway.

Nice, sounds like a solid summer activity Anyone else remember the American 'track chaser' that popped in here about 15 odd years ago.

Hey Zac. The weather is improving all the time for Gisborne. It will be chilly and Southerly so dress warm but looks like the chance of showers is reducing by the hour. Good fields so far on the entry list with 15 superstocks, 30+ Stockcars, 30+ mini stocks, 11 TQs so should be a good opening meeting. Plenty of new machinery on display. Bonus being still only $20 entry fee..well done Gisborne Speedway.

I thought it about time for an update. Despite living in various parts of the North Island I'd never quite made it to Gisbourne speedway before - what a great track and quite a unique setup with the steep banking. The weather was awesome and the racing was very entertaining. From there I travelled the following week over to Rotorua, but the Friday night was moved to Sunday, so Saturday was a trip to BayPark. A well organised race meeting on the red clay surface and although there was a late threat of rain in the air the weather provided and so did the drivers. A quick trip to Paradise Valley for Sunday showed another great meeting with the stockcars being the stars of the show for me. Some great racing and battles throughout the night.
With 4 down, 16 to go I'm already a fifth of the way through the trip, next up is Kihikihi for the Ministock Stampede on Saturday 11th - the weather is looking like it will hold out again for that one, then off to Huntly, and Waikaraka on the following 2 Saturdays.
Thanks David for pointing out Rosebank, Moore Park, Oreti Park - unfortunately the calendars just don't align well enough to do the bike tracks as well - although some (like Oreti Park) still have their 2022/23 calendars on their website - so who knows, nearer the time I might be able to fit some in.

While the NZ Speedway bike tracks don't line up on dates, it looks like Ellesmere on Sunday 14th January would be a reasonable trip over from Greymouth on the Saturday 13th - hmm will give that some serious thought
