Apparently Logan Peat touched the grass but don't know why the Stratford car was sent off. It was more than touched the grass, he was a fair distance over the pole line. Two good calls by SNZ in that race, just a pity the commentators chose to crucify the officials. If anyone has a spare rule book please leave it in the commentators box! Hopefully a more professional approach will be taken on night two. Was an entertaining night, even if some of the strategic aspects of teams racing seemed to be lost on some drivers. Chloe Ingram taking the win in the opening race brought the knowledgeable crowd into the event which was well run through the night. Not much to separate the top 7 teams and although I think Wellington are the team to beat, I wouldn't be putting any hard earned money on them such is the level of competition. What a drive from 15v in the final race. At a 2 on 4 disadvantage he was brilliant. Isolated on multiple occasions he found a way through every time, mostly by pinning the ears back and using the wall to his advantage. Single handedly took Wanganui into the semi-finals. One work on is for the lap scoring team to DNF drivers as they are retired from the race. At least two occasions incorrect points were given because DNF drivers were shown on the lap scoring system. Was great to have the lap scoring live, it added to the event, just needs some finessing so everyone can understand the race result.

Not changed much - other than several thousand tons of concrete grandstand has disappeared! :-) Friday night crowds have always been a problem there. Traffic just makes it so hard to get to - especially with a 6pm start. All looking good for an excellent night tonight!

Why did the officials wait until after the race to exclude the 361h against gisborne?
Ran a wheel or two over the pole line, moments later the race stops for the upside down 13g(p). No action against 361h. 361h continues and wins the race only in the pits do they exclude him for that first lap indiscretion. Are they watching back the video replay looking for problems? They made immediate rulings against 2nz and 33s so why wait a whole red light and the following race to decide 361h needed to go?
To me this isnโt fair on the team, if they lose a car they adapt and can still win the race. But if they put all their effort into that car whoโs leading and goes on to get excluded, the team never had that chance to adapt and win. A horrible way to referee a race.

Don't discount the chances of the Vulcans upsetting the Young Guns tonight. We've been building a team for a couple of seasons now and whoever goes out in that race will leave everything out there.

Rascals go into their Semi v Palmy as underdogs as the P has faster cars all round so should comfortably beat the R's. However that race against Gizzy was a classic example where the lead G car was 60 metres from chequered flag and he stopped!. Go figure! Rotorua has a habit of calling for divine intervention to help win races whether Rascal's or Rebels. Someone in their camp has a hotline above and I think it might be Stan Hickey - he was always a bit wily and cunning! Anyone know what happened to Keegan Orr? Wasn't in the team last night. My assumption is he was injured at Gizzy last week at NI. All the best to all teams and there appears to be no serious injuries to drivers from last nights racing.

I thought someone said Keegan Orr had blown an engine at last weekend's meeting.

OH sorry ,i must of been a bit blind over the years of involvement there as a volunteer... Why is it so secretive not to print the entry price on all those glossy adverts on social media ,many hardy fans budget these days ,some dont have access to a computer and rely on others for info ,and if you are like me a pensioner that belongs to the broken rrse society ,the gold coins can be heavy in your pocket ..

and how many people out there are supporting the ............(no cheering because nobody turned up) and the stockcar lap record for Wikaraka Park is.......... but I don't think that will be broken tonight....(because it's teams racing and no driver is interested in breaking the lap record)

Security last night was an absolute joke. Car stranded up the wall on the back straight. No security to be seen. 15 - 20 people right up to the fence and the crash crew on the infield had to tell them to get back. Two "security" personnel wander down towards the fence, one with a lit cigarette in his hand - in a designated smoke free venue!
Also, perhaps if the commentators could remind patrons 3 or 4 times during the night, that it is a smoke and vape free venue,it would be great. Then people might not sit in stands vaping all over the people around them.

The WP FB page shows Stratford in the second tier, and Gisborne a non qualifier.
