Anyone know the story behind the DQ of 10r and 94r and subsequent overturning of the decision?

One will be a target ,the other may hit the jackpot ,but then somehow or a rather one may slip in sideways unknown and steal the show ..

Pitwalk from last night. Also would like to make a comment about the commentary. I find it frustrating that the commentary is based around the live stream in the sense of talking about replays and driver interviews with out taking into account the live spectators. Is it time for 2 separate commentaries unless there is a big screen available for spectators When watching Live Stream replays at Meeanee I describe the footage to the crowd and annalise an incident/accident. Drivers interviews should be also coming over the PA track system so the Crowd gets the benefit of hearing them too but there isn't always time for that.

Tough gig for the commentators to meet the needs of both audiences. The biggest challenge for live stream commentators has been to coordinate the audience viewing and commentating. It's one of the most frustrating aspects in teams racing in particularly where the camera switches just when there appears to be a significant event in the track. Recent Wikaraka teams was hard work and at times confusing for the viewer. I'm just glad that Livestream providers are working hard to refine this.

Pitwalk from last night. Also would like to make a comment about the commentary. I find it frustrating that the commentary is based around the live stream in the sense of talking about replays and driver interviews with out taking into account the live spectators. Is it time for 2 separate commentaries unless there is a big screen available for spectators And we also hear complaints from live streamers that the commentary is directed at those at the track and not in sync with the pictures on the screen. It's never all one or all the other. The only meetings I've been involved in that had a track commentary team as well as a dedicated race caller to the streamers was with Speedbox in the very early days of live streaming speedway, and it was only done once per season that being the Palmy Teams. It was purely a financial decision, as the streaming company has to be able to recover the extra costs involved with that commentator (travel, per diems, accomodation, as well as the actual two days of commentary). Palmy teams was the only meeting to sell enough streams to be able to recover those extra costs. Other streams, initially, didn't make money at all, so Palmy Teams also had to help balance the books for the season. I worked for Speedbox at Teams, as did Paul Hickey as the dedicated race caller, but Paul could also tune in to the track commentary to pick up relegations and the like. Communications are much different today than they were all those years ago, and if I wanted to get a message up to Paul (from the pits to the top of the grandstand) I had to text him that something important was coming through, then jump into the comm box and use the track commentary system to relay that message. We didn't have cameras roaming around that were broadcasting live, but were recording pit interviews onto tape that were then run up to the top of the grandstand and a fresh tape brought down to carry on with the interviews. It was fun times, but the difference between what we were doing then and what Jason Gutteridge is doing now is like the difference between Kindergarten and University. As for the original question; I think I'd rather commentary explain what happened in some incident I missed from the replay on their screen than not mention it at all, whether there was a big screen present or not. It's been an issue since about 2003 (from memory, maybe slightly earlier) when the TAB was filming major speedway meetings for television. One year they put a screen in the Palmy commentary box so we could see what they were filming (this is pre-streaming and pre big-screen) and although I was normally on the infield there I just happened to be a in the box when a big incident happened, which the cameras caught but a lot of spectators didn't. Under the red light they replayed the incident several times, and in the box we were just taking about what we could see, analysing what had happened etc, and there were a number of people came up afterwards and said how pi**ed off they were having to hear over and over about how spectacular this crash was, that they had missed yet we were seeing over and over!! And having the cheek to talk about it Speedway people are extremely passionate and don't want to miss a thing. As technology evolves even further, and gets cheaper, one day that may happen and everybody will be satisfied. Barry B

Interesting comments from both commentators re the NZ Stockcar teams next season at Paradise Valley. They've received confirmations from Nelson, Christchurch and Dunedin.

Or life imitating life Whatever you do, or any other streamer does, somebody, somewhere, will not be happy. What I like about The Pits streams - outside of the sound and stability from the second you tune in, which should be a given, but sadly isn't with all suppliers - is that things are always being improved. Some things are noticeable, other things are behind the scenes and not so noticeable to viewers, but it's nice to know that despite already being unquestionably the best, they aren't resting on their laurels.
