What you MUST remember Waikatobop is the hole show is run by vollies because they love the sport and lead by a promoter that can't hold a few hundred ,hands at once. Some times things go wrong and thats why we have a debrief after the meeting. They are trying there best. If we were working in the USA it would be a paid job and would practice all day every day and no guarantee we will get it right then. We have only three hours a week to do it right so it is pretty good.

No I was thinking along the lines of Nascar where all the workers go with the race cars and they still get run over and hurt. Don't be negative or you will short out and will end up being a smoking blob on the ground and you won't be able to Ram your Jam

I don't think any of my comments are silly EG seat belts, being told what to do at drivers briefing ETC. It's people like you bagging other people on here under a non derplume is why a lot of people have given up on the Magors site.

No question helmet, belt and overall inspection should have been done at pit gate prior to entering the track. Those tracks not carring out these checks on "ALL" race drivers entering track leave themseves more liable for prosecution of neglegence by ACC.
Maybe there is someone out there with a better understanding of our accident compensation system than me but as I see it an individual cannot be sued personally for accident injury. A speedway promotion may find itself liable for prosecution but not an individual. Only in the case of a person breaking the law you find the indivdual could find themselve personally liable for costs incurred via prosecution of the crime an reparation ordered by the courts.
Lessons should be learnt from this incident and by the sounds of it some changes at more than one track in NZ to make this a safer sport for all.
Just the way I see it Mac

no matter how many times you tell people about safety, theres always one that doesn't listen or believes hes better than that and doesn't need the safety items.... they are the ones that usually get hurt....

The excuse offered by some people, that anyone checking belts etc is liable should something go wrong is a total crock and one that needs addressing by SNZ.
