Howdy... With the Sth Islands not happening until after this meeting, how are Sonja and co going to choose which 3 cars will get an invite?..as is usually 1 2 3 Sth Island getting the call up. Top 3 Sth Island cars from NZ's?? On top of the 3, I am picking that there would have to be an invite to the "Zac Attack" to compliment the "stirrers brigade" ;D Not that I am going, I will be watching from the Macgors rooms

Due to Woodford Glen's rescheduling of the event, South Islanders should be banned this year ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
No, I don't know the answer to that, but would LOVE to see Zac Thompson a part of the show, for sure. To see the likes of him, Peter Barry, Ron Tye, Nick Krisnic, Mike Mac, Carlos Chesnutt Snr and a fired up Nick Valance taking on that field of champions would be a sight to behold. Okay, I know we can't have them all, but any 4 would be awesome. And don't forget one can sneak through by way of the "wild card" entry from qulaifying too, as Mike Mac did last year.

I've checked the dates, and if everything is up to date the South Island title is now March 20th/21st, and the prized World of Stocks March 27th/28th, so in fact the SI title is still before the Worlds albeit effectively less than a week. That has to be a real pain in Rotorua's butt........

The field is made up of"
1nz (Gaskin), 2nz (Robertson) & 3nz (Rees) 1NI (Gaskin), 2NI (Lloyd) & 3NI (Rees) 1SI, 2SI & 3SI - to be run 1GP & 2GP - to be run Last seasons winner (Rees) Next 26 winner (Fredrickson) Overseas Invited Wildcard
Now with a few of the spots already doubled up these will then go to Qualifying. So the two Rees placings will become spots from Qualifying along with one of the Gaskin spots.

Well Mike Mac was the "wildcard" from qualifying last year, and i'm sure things are underway to select this year's list of invitees.
1nz (Gaskin), 2nz (Robertson) & 3nz (Rees) = 3 1NI (Gaskin), 2NI (Lloyd) & 3NI (Rees) = 3 1SI, 2SI & 3SI - to be run = 3 1GP & 2GP - to be run = 2 2008 World of Stocks winner (Rees) = 1 Stocks in Paradise winner (Fredrickson) = 1 Overseas = 5 (3 x UK and 2 x Oz last year) Qualifiers = 5 (but there will be at least 3 extras this year due to double ups as above) Invited = 4 (usually 4 stirrers, but Rees and Vallance just raced last year for 1st and 3rd) Wildcard = 1 (to come from qualifying night)
Total = 28
The advantage of this meeting is, the promotion can do whatever they like to make it better. Who knows, with all the double ups maybe they'll be 1 or 2 more invited drivers? Maybe not, but possibly an extra wildcard entry up for grabs?
Until the final entry is known, and there's still the GP and SI champs to run yet, and until it's known how many qualifying groups there will be, it's difficult to know exactly what numbers will be coming from what sources. The only guarantee is, it's gonna go off!!

Of course when Dale and Richard take the 2 top spots in the GP there will be two more spots for the qualifying field to fight over

Hopefully the revised format will be released shortly, but with the possibilty of even more double ups (with the GP and SI events still to come), that too will be subject to change.

TWO (2) wildcard entries this year - if there's twice as much going on during qualifying in an attempt to get one of those tranfers through, there won't be many cars left ;D ;D ;D

One per qualifying group could really liven things up.......hopefully it will be revealed who the invited quartet will be soon. There are plenty that have stuck their hand up this last month and said "please Sonja, pick me!!"
