By popular demand I am starting the third thread on the Gordge Hot Rod Superstocks. The first 2 vanished a while back when the board provider did an upgrade. I have been gathering data and photos for a while, still short of a few photos, and no doubt there are still some mysteries to be solved, but once we get the show on the road I am sure there will be lots of contributions and questions. We will start with the most talked about Gordge, the Hobbs Pullman Chev car that Craig Boote won 2 of his 1NZs in, and of course the car he now owns once again. History is Murray Hobbs / Barry Hunter / Craig Boote / Neil McCoard / Tony Whittaker / Bruce Williams & Lionel Penn / Lionel Penn / Craig Boote (driven by Nick Fowler).

This one is the Peter Luyten car once SVO Ford powered, now in the hands of Tim Nichols in Auckland with Toyota power. Darryl Hammond ran this car after Grant King, can anybody provide information on how long he ran it for, and most importantly a photograph.

'I always was under the impression that when Rex brought the 83g, it was his old hotrod?'I believe the car itself was new for Terry Brown but the engine was from Rex's original 'hotrod' So when Rex bought the car he was buying his original engine back . thats correct, I was working for terry at time.

Brian Bowater 51A if memory serves me correctly? Correct as pictured here in Palmy Didn't Shane Comer then qualify this car at the NZ Champs in Gis a few seasons later - still not with original Nield engine, but I'm sure PallMall will get to this car/chassis soon enough

PallMall... The 12R-61A Gordge SuperStock, did Darryl Hammond race this car for a short time before Russell Harrop?
Yes, I have that in my notes, will add it to the page later. Has anybody got a photo of it when Hammond raced it?[/i]

where did the first car boote had come from? was that brand new when he got it No, the one he has on order now will be his first brand new one. His first Holden powered car was originally a Lyall Rumney car that was rebuilt by Murray Hobbs and Rex Nield. Will be on here soon.

We have had a recent thread on this car. This is the Gordge Tube frame car that Chris Allen had built for Craig Pierce to drive to defend his 1NZ.

Copied from the Wayne Wilding thread:
After 2 very frustrating part seaons with this car jason has taken all of the running gear out of it and now has a new mcmurdo chassis which should make an appearence before the end of the season. Jason had a hit in the front that just bent the whole front of the chassis, he then repaired it all (and hopefully made it stronger) and then went to palmy and exactly the same thing happened to the car but it bent futher back this time. So now i'm guessing it is pretty much scrap steel. Would have to say that its not the greatest car that Mr Gordge has built.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From Mr Gordges mouth..."This deal will only last about 3-4 seasons and then once it starts to move and bend, even God himself wont stop it!!"
I was there when he told Chris Allen and hey presto its lasted just a bit longer than first expected!!
Just coz a car is great in its early years doesnt mean it will always be great eh?? by PeteMuckle55

I have said it once, but I will say it again! You are a legend Pall Mall. What a fantastic snapshot of Speedway history you are completing. It's great to see my photo's put to such great use. If I can help with anything else just let me know.
Cheers, Bayboy
