Interesting article posted by macgor and date corresponds with what I had last heard. Hopefully buried away somewhere must be more news articles as follow-ups to this one. Great to know that the club is still going strong and that they are showing determination in seeing the project through. Good on you all. Looking forward to more info.

apparently the club or miles marsden and brian kenton still intend finishing the timaru track, all consents where granted years ago,and off we went a small few driveing trucks diggers etc, carting clean fill to build up the track area,i drove a truck nearly every weekend for 4 years, then the big guns where called in, progress was realy made, then all went quiet, its a shame that intrest has been lost in this project,it might be a good thing, but woodford glen is only two hours up the road, dunedin only 2 and a half hours down the road, and only 50 miles up the road is ashburton speedway, ashburton is really doing ok,with membership growing every meeting as well as competitors, the track itself is ok although now and then like all tracks it can be alittle rough, does timaru really need a track?

If it is going to create more interest in our sport, then yes it is needed. While there may be tracks to the north and south, there is always opportunity for a "home" track. There is also the need to satisfy the many people who believed in the project from day one.

Well, finally made it down to Timaru to see the inlaws for Christmas and the nephew had a fair idea on where we needed to go. There it was on the left heading to Levels Raceway. As you can see the concrete panels are standing but otherwise very little has been done by the looks of it.....project stalled ? & one more
