414h was the superstock. Same car as last year but during the off season we layed the seat back 10mm this made the back of the seat closer to the rear roll cage steel work check if we still had 100mm head plate clearance 115mm.
After the Pre race meeting CVI was told JV wanted log book and that the roll cage didn't conform (normal human reaction "WTF")
JV arrives where's your log book writes in log book (in short roll cage head plate doesn't conform) I asked why simple answer must have a minimum 100mm head clearance.
Long discussion with yellow caps, red caps, brown caps and with people who didn't have caps every one but one person (JV) could not see anything wrong. Now its my understanding that if its written in your log book basically put on the trailer until its fixed and re inspected. Superstock rep went and checked that it was alright to race that night "Thumbs up all OK".
At the end of the meeting we talked with one of the other yellow caps and he came across to explain what he thought the fuss was over.
There appeared not to be 100mm clearance from the back of the helmet and the roll cage bar that connects to the back edge of the roll cage.
Put the driver in the car helmet on belted up ready to race and measure.
Lots of clearance forward, above and 101mm back at the closest point of the helmet and roll cage pipe this was checked two or three times using different means of measurement (tap and log book).
So what do we change, just to keep everyone happy moved head rest forward 10mm.
So now off to WP to-night, we will see what happens.

hmmmm
1/ clear reasoning and explanations need to be given to drivers so that they can understand CLEARLY what is wrong why it is wrong and how to fix it. It should come from the person that issues this NOT from every other yellow hat no hat whatever because they all have different interpretations then the original problem gets lost and the driver is left confused

Haha ya just got to read what "Is" written in your log book.

Warwick just got his log book out to see what JV wrote in it to check all complies and all it is just a set of numbers.

T12-2-5a is floorboards.

Must of meant
T12-2-6 This is roll bars and roll cage nothing about head heights and clearances.

A. At all times there must exist a minimum of 100mm clearance between the TOP of the drivers helmet and any part of the roof plate and/or the plate mounting steel work.
Diagram above this section shows and Say's 100mm between helmet & roof plate above driver.

So we all have been wrong its measured from the TOP of the helmet not the back of the helmet radius.

To night I have my rule book and lets see what happens.

Mad one
There should be no differences in the interpretation of the rules. We all have to read them twice and always read the little words ie top of the helmet in this case.
If I said some thing and others said no not right there being more than one would make me re-look at what I was saying in case my interpretation was wrong.
Apologize and get on with it.
We are all human and make mistakes doesn't matter what colour cap we wear.

Hmmmm - the rule book states

G10 PROTESTS

G10-1 Any competitor considering themselves aggrieved in any competition by another competitor [glow=red,2,300]or by the decision of any SNZ official,[/glow] may make a formal protest as provided by these regulations.

G10-1-1 All protests must be forwarded in writing on the official SNZ form and must be signed by the competitor actually engaged in the competition.

G10-1-2 All protests should be signed by the steward of the meeting.

G10-1-3 Such protest must be accompanied by a deposit of forty dollars
($40.00).


I suggest next time the mysterious JV who finds issues no other officials can see the merit in pin pointing springs into action the competitor follow the process above.

That way it can be resolved on the night with any luck, and, should you be able to get comments removed, if they are baseless in the eyes of every other official on site.

The other option is to go straight to the vehicle checker again and get him to check the problem. If he believes its all OK he can sign off the notes in the log book. Thats what is supposed to happen at the next meeting, but there is nothing in the rules that says that it cant be done straight away.
