Hi Janna here, josh's partner.
He is alright, has a broken knee cap and will go into surgery in the morning to have it wired back together. Has normal bruising and is generally sore for a hit of that size.
He would like thank the infield safety crew and ambulance crew and palmerston north speedway officials and SNZ officials.
Will try update tomorrow once out of surgery.
Janna

Best of luck for quick recovery, thanks Janna for update, was a bloody massive hit,and really wasn't required, suppose Rees wanted to enforce his power rather than try to win wtf,Rees was up on points and the blood rush cost him a win or at least podium.

As much as I don't want to defend Rees.... from where we were sitting it looked like any other big hit put on by any other driver. If it wasn't Rees, you wouldn't be whinging about it.

Its Stockcars y0u people that don't even race moan there is not enough contact or not enough big hits and run drivers down, then when there is and sometimes someone gets hurt you get stuck into the drivers hitting !! If a car is cruising in block mode then go through him having said that no one wants to see anyone get hurt. Hope the recovery is swift for Josh

Eh, I though Kahui was waiting for Rees, so he could block him? What would've happened if he'd gone round the outside? Bear in mind there would've been a second for Rees to decide what to do, when he's travelling at pace with Welly cars right behind him, and an ex-Welly driver trolling the poleline in front of him. Hopefully Josh has a speedy recovery and is back on the track soon. He's certainly come a long way in quite a short career!

Geez guys bit touchy aint ya. My comment was that if Rees hadn't had brain explosion he would've won or at least been on podium, and most round me were of opinion the hit wasn't warranted, sure hit is part of the game, but stationary car scenario aint nice from my point of view,or others around me.
And yep I admit my thinking of Rees is he seems to be a god,but not infallible. And his move on night 1 second heat iirc was amazing, along the stand he had the balls to go through the cars with amazing biff and push, most others would've slowed but he didn't,so shows his committment and big friggin balls.
Good thing is we live in a free speech, those who hate drivers are free to put their opinions on here, those who admire them can do so,and those who disagree can do so,hell I like the ford v chev, falcon v commordore rivalry, and it is my opinion to voice my ideals.
Overall a greta meeting and for me heaps of moments and contact, and as such short of teams champs next month will take a while to better.
And the speed of the supers makes yourealise why they don't want to hit much, man they're flying.

Lets just leave this thread for the get well soon ah, im sure the boys dont need the un-needed comments put on. Only the drivers know what was going to happen so no point guessing what happened or what was going to happen.

Not touchy fordz, just wanted to throw another side of events out there. He's been getting a bit of stick since the hit, which I'm sure wouldn't happen if Kahui had not been injured. We all see things from a different perspective - and you're right it is good we can all have an opinion on here! Definitely a great meeting, one I wasn't expecting a huge amount of action from - and boy it never felt so good to be so wrong!

Cheers,my opinion wouldn't change if no injury or if it wasn't Rees, benefit of doubt Rees didn't see stationary car in front of Josh, but man he hit it hard. And worht every hard earnt cent of $45 each, plus $20 each night for food lol, memo to others the coffee is great on terraces rather than in stand. The hard working ladies in caravan were busy till 2.00am Saturday baking for Manfeild track day(I asked if the slices were leftovers from Friday night at Manfeild lol),then getting back to track for speedway, dedication to business.

Thanks for all your get well wishes guys. Word today is they are not moving Josh he is still on drips and pain relief along with antibiotics. Lots of bruising and large gash on other knee that needed stiches as well. Hopefully tomorrow he can be released. Carl and Josh are in the same room so at least are having some laughs!!
