Ngatai can't win with some people - if he wins races hes a flag chaser, if he mixes it up he is "throwing his toys"!!! ChCh have a 1NZ for the first time ever. 30 years ago that would have been an absolute dream, the gulf between NI and us was huge, now we have one I hear people booing him at race meets, criticizing him for building and racing a winning car.
Me? Well I wouldn't have the nads to get in a stockie, any bloke who does it is flippin brave & I'm glad there are enuf of them out there so i can watch em. I applaud Malcolm for "flag chasing", how the $%#%% else is he supposed to win titles!? Hes got the machinery so hes our man to win titles, I say chase that flag Malcolm! And we sure need blokes life Rosewarne (not that he did C cars any favours last yr at the Nationals), he aint gonna win any title, he'll have too many enemies out there that wont let him, but boy is he fantastic.
Ngatai in the Street Stocks when he started, and when he first got into stockies showed no fear, he can hit alright, so take a chill pill guys and enjoy a C car with a 1NZ. Hang around a few decades and realise just how lucky we are to have one winning races every week at the Glen.
We have a flippin good mix for the Teams Nationals, get up u Eagles!

don't be getting too excited people . I call it 'heroes and Villains ' almost every fan has a list of both so they can alternate between cheering and booing . Be less people in the stands if it was outlawed .
funny thing about Ngatai though is that I've never heard him being booed in the Nth Island .

Everybody in the NI appreciates the effort that he puts into his racing.

the last two post exemplify exactly what you have got to admire Malcolm for hes an ambassador for our sport yes he does have a love him or hate him personality but there are plenty who do but I'm shure if checked the speedo on his bus regularly it cover plenty of miles for the benefit of not only its owner and his sponsors but our sport as a whole the one thing i admire about Malcolm is he has time for anyone generally is happy to talk to anyone if he has time and the situation allows and the rapport hes developed with the kids at the track i have never stopped smirking as i meet a child who attends woodford glen regularly when i as who's your favorite drive 9 out of 10 say Malcolm nagati and as they are our future come tors in the making why not aspire to be another entertainer and new Zealand champion a promoters dream

Some people just love to bag whoever has a 1nz on there car. I for one think we are extremely lucky to have a person like Malcolm Ngatai in our speedway who we can follow.

Its great Malcolm is 1NZ, it would be good if he was to just have some fun some nights and lets some of the others win, but I guess if you want to please your sponsors etc.. you have to try and win.
As for Brad, mate take a chill pill, if you take too many cars out you won't have any to race against, but it is good to see, I dunno maybe tone it down a bit to keep your numbers up.
All things aside, lets hope the Glen Eagles do well in Palmy & race as a team.
Has the team been named yet.

You guys are unbelievable - you bag 1nz for chasing the flag but when he does turn around and get into some hitting, you bag him for "throwing his toys out of the cot". You have got one of the best ambassadors of the sport at your home track, who has carried the 1NZ well, has been probably the most well travelled speedway competitors around andyour still not satisfied. I totally agree with you Stevo, I must admit I used to think that Malcolm was only in the sport to flag chase but I admire what he has done for speedway here at W/Glen and NZ Superstock racing in general... Good on ya Mal and all the best for your trip up North...

here we go again more self promoted speedway critics who will only ever excel at eating hot dogs and pies at speedway tracks it really gives me the nutss how people are quick to miss interpret what a competitor is like or what they think is going on by what they see on the track or what they thought they heard in the chew for there twelfth hot dog for the night my advise to them is begin to save the 30 bucks the spend on hot dogs each meeting and grow some balls as they save and get a car and come race it then earn the rite to be posting honest firsthand nolidge on here not half truths and rumors No point actually going to watch if we're not allowed to form our own opinion of how the race went or a driver performed. Most spectators have a love/hate relationship with drivers & classes and should be free to post their view - you're free to disagree with their view if you like.

Yeah having met malcolm many many times hes very passionate about speedway and just wants to race, whether that be flag or hit thats up to him as hes the one that spends hours and hours each week preparing car.
Locals need to get in behind him and support him, otherwise honestly he will just put a p or a r behind his number and contract out of a different club where the racing is alot better.
I never in a million years CHCH would ever get a 1nz in superstocks, but we have, and man its awesome.
Every club needs a top racer that wins alot, this is what makes the rest of the guys push harder and improve, look at 86c and 14c, they are both going great, plus 83c, and many others, and i bet they are all just trying there hardest to beat 1nz.

Well said Hercules .. I have to say though the racing should be kept on the track and not in the pits as I hear was the case after one of the superstocks races.. Every club needs a top racer

I am a fan of Superstocks, and have spectated them at many tracks, and aside from Palmy have not seen club night racing as good as at WG. I guess it is unique that it has a single car that can and does win every race by alot if not taken too, and alot of guys that can scrap it out for second.
I imagine the problem for Malcolm is that.. yes he could stir.. but if he does, he could straightline and destroy most cars (and drivers) at the Glen and have people complain like they do about Rosewarne plus have no team or fellow competitors. He could play around and spin people and drive slow.. just because.. but that is sorta silly when he has the fastest car, and wouldnt be that fun or good for his sponsors. OR he could do what he does.. tap a few people out of his way while clearing out to win, leaving the onus on the other drivers to meet his benchmark speed, or try and eliminate him, and i believe the latter is by far the best, as it pushes the other drivers and challenges everybody like Hercules said. Malcolm is awesome, and puts himself out there as THE target most WG meetings, and yes we love to see him get stopped, but it aint his fault when it doesnt happen. I dont think he threw his toys out of the cot at all, he just knew he couldnt win because of 15C and went for the payback. Good on him.. it was the best non champs race ive seen for a very long time.

It is quite Ironic how 1NZC is loved and appreciated more in the North than the South, having most Nelsonians despise Malcom is understandable as he did better and superior to their Nelson drivers but for at least half of Canterbury to despise their own NZ champ is harder to understand shows how stupid humans are like Moses and the Isralites miracle after miracle was showed to them and they still didn't believe. cherish your 1NZC because it may be a few or many years before you have one again

i was chatting to mal on saturday night, hes a straight up bloke, told me straight out that he doesnt hold much hope in making it thru to the finals at the nationals, i asked him why the mainland guys dont stick 2gether and help eachother out up there, told him im sure dale would have his back, lol he just laughed i used to be kinda critical of mal , but hes not a bad bloke afterall good luck malcolm, we cant afford to lose talented blokes like this
