Excellent thread. It is great to see the step by step progress. I for one will certainly be cheering you on when I get the privilege of seeing the finished car in action.

When bolting two plate faces together, ensure you use bolts with sufficient shoulders or you run the risk of shearing your threads.

A shoulder bolt is a special kind of bolt. It has an unthreaded length which is precisely machined, both as to length and diameter."

The metric ones are 8.8's. Not sure what the imperial ones are.

As john44s has pointed out there hasn't been much done on the car in the last two weeks, actually nothing has been done. We left our apartment at 4am Aussie time and only just got home an hour ago. Opened the shed as soon as I got home and unfortunately no elves have come and finished the car for me. Never mind, I will get back into it soon and keep you all updated on the progress. Not to sure what to do on the car next, I should be thinking about getting a body and making a roll cage I guess, then I can mount the rear suspension.

just been looking at the arcives and seen your old ministock. have you thought about running one of those bodies on your new stockcar? it looked great. where did you get it from? i wouldnt mind one. There were only three of those bodies made. One for myself, one for Jonathon Mercer and one for the guy that built the three cars, Shane Benton. One of those bodies would look cool on a Stockcar.I have no idea who made them or what happened to the mould though.

We worked on the car today. Got the front torsion bars mounted and they are now fully functional. The front is sitting off the ground on its own, no blocks under the chassis!Torsion adjusters outside cooling after being welded. Torsions mounted to the car. Look, no blocks! The next job now will be to make a mount for the panhard bar to the chassis, get some front shocks and mount those to the axle and chassis then that is the front pretty much done. After that, seat, roll cage, rear suspension I guess. I will have to do some research on the Kirky, Harris and Racetech seats and decide which one is going to suit me and the car the best.

awesome stuff mate - good to see the progress, and hope to see a few more pictures as work progresses. cheers I will definitely be posting more pictures. Hopefully there will be some visible progress to show soon. You can spend many hours researching how to do things and trying to find suitable parts such as shocks etc, but that stuff doesn't show up on the photos. Went to Auckland today to sort out a seat. Stopped at Mike Henry's on the way and ordered a body. Both those should be here in a couple of weeks so then I can work out where the seat will go and start building the cage. In the mean time, I will use the next couple of weeks to fully weld up the chassis. Might make up a couple of wheels too, with the correct offset then I can put the front bumper braces in. ;D
