It was back to Waikaraka for the 2nd time this season, as support for the Barry Butterworth Midget 40 lapper, a bigger crowd was in and the Midget racing seemed to be generating a lot of interest with the self handicapping the organizers has employed, I think the format is one of the best I have ever heard of, with the drivers themselves choosing who starts at the back,
After the wheel pack we were race one on the grid, not before a tribute for couple of fallen speedway drivers,
The track looked pretty drivey but proved to be slippery on top for the first few laps, I started on grid 7, and ended up about 6th, we made some passes after loosing a few places early on, the biggest plus was a timing change had fixed the bog we had been chasing for the last couple of weeks.
Race 2, and we were off grid 6, I did not use enough aggression and ended up on the outside line and loosing a few places, making a couple up at the end, I was pretty pissed off with myself as I do not think I drove that well in the 1st half of the race,
The feature and off grid 8, I got a good start and managed to get around the 76a Nissan in the 1st corner, a quick battle with Lyn Yates was ended when she had car problems, I was after the 6a Monaro, unfortunately my race was cut short when the torque arm mount broke off the diff causing a fair bit of damage,
A huge thanks to Chris Street from CSR Fabrication for getting the car fixed already allowing us to race speed fest on Thursday night,
Cheers
