Alan Barnes raced it, was talking to him today. Said after rod car came to Gis ( Gary Fairweather?), then back to Welly and onto him.
He gave it to the young fella I brought it from.
Was steel bodied at first and changed to fiberglass at some stage.
Had ran a 12a and 13b at different times.
Commer cobb front wish bones.
Will call on him as he has some parts for us in our rebuild.
Any other info?
RX3 diff head and morris 1800 hubs?

Grant Campbell ran 9w on the ex Blondie Rover and also the ex Peter Macullum, ex Pete Sloman Monza. That door does not look like it came off either of those cars thou!

The 9w looks like the original 78w car, was built by Nathan Heyburn and co, it was his 1st saloon car built late 80's early 90's.

the RX3 was bought by AJ Martin and raced as 77w it was wreaked and scraped with the main parts going into AJ's new RX7 which he raced for many years. And i started in.
My first RX7 AJ built was wreaked on club day in ladies race, so I bought Stu Cunninghams Avenger which was changed to a Series 4 RX7 78w. My car sold to Alan Rossiter (hunty)and then to Rotorua I think a guy Ken? I saw it last year at Stratford 95a painted like Lighting McQueen.
Alan R then moved to Welly and bought AJ's car which we rebuilt and raced as 9w for one year. Nigel 12w also drive it for a year.
The RX7 in photos i think was driven at welly by Paul Butler? the fibre body looks like it came from AJ's moulds 9w door was mine.

Cheers muff, any chances of photos.
Motor info etc.
Want to compile a history on this car.
When did it change from steel bodied to plastic?

The Paul Butler name rings a bell.
Alan Barnes(Taupo) put a name like that in the mix.
So the 9w never ran on this car muff?

Paul may have done the body Im sure that the panels on it came from AJ's moulds they where made to be able to run a road car with them.
9w was only on AJ's rx7. Not sure where it went after Alan Rossiter
Paul & I think Murray raced it together. Bought from Alan Barnes who was the main rotor man in welly back then.

And didn't Mike Eckersley win the Wellington Limited Saloon Champs in your Series 4 RX7 one year Muff?? How embarrassing for a Chev man having his biggest win in a Rota!

Looking at the pics I think I recall the roll cage extension was done by Paul at AJ's workshop. When they changed the rules to had to be within 50mm of body line.

The main difference from photos on 1st page is the vertical roll cage pipe in the stripped version.
