What an effort from a team that has none of the big names in it.
The semi with the Pumas was expected to be a walkover by Palmy however Gisborne really gave it to them even though they lost a car 20 metres after the start line and were down to 4 cars after 15 seconds of the race.
They really stuck in there and were oh so close to upsetting the new champs.
Well done guys , you have gained a heap of respect from all who witnessed you race.

Certainly are impressive, they seem to really understand the meaning of the word team. All the hard work that many have put into competed as often as possible has paid off. A well earned podium placing, congratulations.
One of the classic sites of the tourament for me was the look on manager Scott Ross's face when he came up after qualifying to find out if the Gladiators had made it into the second tier competition, and was told they had made the finals. You could have knocked him over with a feather, he was so gobsmacked.

How good were Gizzy?
Man, I mean we already knew they were good, but after a slow start on Friday they really fired on Sunday.
They very nearly beat the new champs in the semi, and rolled Peter Rees, Beatle Tarrant and Mike Mac within two races - that is no mean feat!
Throw in the pace of Brett Lloyd (on his sort-of home track) and it should just give them that extra dimension for a full-on assault with 2 hours less travelling time next season... ;D

Yes well done to the Gladiators. Not a team full of big names but a team full of guys that show huge budgets and big reputations mean nothing in the world of teams racing. Its a full team effort and they are starting to reap the benefits now of a campaign that started maybe 4yrs ago with Scott Ross taking charge and pulling together a core group of guys and crews. Well done to all involved, you have won over a huge number of fans guys keep up the good work. ;D ;D ;D

The Forien Legion team for Jan 2nd is Dean Mullholland(a), Justin Hutchby(h), Dion Mooney(v). Dale Stewart(r) and Mike Mac(b). Looks like a good team and should be a good race to watch.

Not what your calendar suggests Regan.
1st night of super saloons is the 14th or 15th I thought.
Super saloons aren't on the programme for the first meet of 2011

Good to here Rotaholic. this meeting should be a big one with championships for all classes. As for the teams race it will be big with plenty of ideas to make it that extra bit special. Scott has been doing a great job of getting this race to happen, and what a team he has for the 3NZ Ireland Motors Gladiators to face.

And then back to Palmerston North for January 3rd - International Sprintcars and SuperStock Gold Cup! Back to the Gladiators. They certainly surprised me, shows what a good manager can do with a team that has the right attitude. How much effect do you believe a manager makes on a Team?
