Anyone else planning on heading to Palmy a day early, and attend the 30th Anniversary dinner evening? www.pnspeedway.co.nz/asp/news.asp?ID=473Have just checked and the keynote speakers are: Barry Brown, Paul Hickey, Bill Dorn, Dave Birdling, Guy Parker, Gary Parkes and Tony McLanachan. A heap of former drivers etc are going to be there too and will be interviewed, so it should be great to see, hear and rub shoulders with some of these legends!

Only two days before the 30th Anniversary of the Super Stockcar Teams Championship starts with the Celebration Dinner beginning at 6.15pm on Thursday evening. Still a few tickets available if you want a great night out.
If you thought the "Tank Reunion" dinner was a spectacular event wait until you see what the Teams Champs 30th Anniversary committee have planned for you.
About 280 people have bought tickets including all the members of the original Panther B Team who won the Final race on March 7th, 1981 at the end of an event that has mushroomed into Speedway's most coveted title.
Can you remember something from Teams Champs that has made a vivid impression on you? It's often only small things that keep us eager to return again and again.

Can you remember something from Teams Champs that has made a vivid impression on you? The year (when Scott Miers was still promoting) Subway had just opened in PN and wanted to get involved in the Teams Champs. Scotty came up with the great idea that we could fire free Subs into the crowd via the gas cannon he had brought in to shoot tee shirts and newspapers up to the fans that had arrived early. He suggested they put double-layers wrapping on them, but the subs vapourised to the extent that all that was left was a bit of wrapping wafting in the breeze!!!

On a par with the English stuntman's death defying flaming wall drive, then?

Dave Evans - either when he was holding half an opposing team at bay on the rear bumper of his Ford 6 flattie, or his early 90's one-man demolition job of the Wanganui Warriors when he stepped back behind the wheel of a Tank.

I was an awestruck young teen (now that description will have all the searchbots sending traffic to this site ;D) when the great Mungo lost his body and kept attacking. Thought that was the coolest thing I had ever seen at the time.

my fav memory is the 99 final between palmy and wellington, when scott miers drove straight into a road block, hospitalising paul demanser in the process, and won the race. i was only 11 at the time and was the first time i remember seeing the panthers win. (was either too young to remember any others, or wasnt born ). it is currently my earliest memory of the teams champs and has stuck with me ever since also, although i wasnt there, the stories of craig boote deciding he didnt like the dirt and going airborn in 97 were pretty cool too
