Bumper to bumper traffic between Palmy and Wanganui tonight. What a fantastic night's racing; it had everything, including controversy. And if I can work out how to upload a video from my iPhone (all suggestions welcome), I have some of the antics of the Car of the Week on camera ...
Well done Panthers, bad luck Nelson and Stratford, and thanks to all the teams who put their cars and bodies on the line to give us an amazing weekend of racing; just stunning!

So can anyone share any light as to why there were no protests allowed? I think i heard in an interview that with a stipe steward running the show then no protests are allowed?
Surely this cant be right as it means that one person solely dictates the results (not saying that he has been) but this opens all sorts of cans of worms when it comes to bribes/track allegiances etc etc.

They generally run teams meetings under a' No Protest ' agreement and really that's the way it should or else the meeting would take an age to run with protests going in for every real and imagined indiscretion.
Imagine a game of rugby with players protesting and appealing every decision .
One thing I do favour is the ref making quick decisions and removing any car that he is going to disqualify instantly. At least then everyone would know where they are at.

I should have added that in this case it was a relegation so not much else could be done I guess.

There needs to be a balance so it has some transparency and consistency...because tonight's ruling has possibly just opened this entire event up to claims of being fixed.

you can not protest a descion made by a stipendary ref. hence why the ref for this event is invited and a local ref is not used.

because tonight's ruling has just opened this entire event up to claims of being fixed. has just??? palmy teams has always been dodgy. every year there is some scandal or drama. it just re-confirms many peoples attitudes towards the event and the panthers. just when i thought we were turning a corner with a seemingly legit draw.

About the only let down , at least from watching on speedbox, is that the reason for the decision wasn't available. I assume it was the same for the crowd that was there.

As someone in the crowd, we thought the relagations was initially for movement under the red light. The movement was rather obvious as well.

It was a relegation that was lacking in any consistency at all in regards to the majority of races that were run this weekend. And, furthermore, according to the results posted on the race in question, a Nelson driver had also finished second, so should have been promoted to the top spot with Brett's relegation. Cars were relegated for grass incidents all weekend, so seems pretty consistent to me. Same thing happened to the Panthers last year when they lost to Waikato due to Hemi being relegated out of first place. 44s Ricky Boulton was running in second for most of the race, and finished second before being promoted to the win.

The conspiracy between the Palmerston North Panthers, all officials, refs, and track staff, God, Shiva, John Key, the FBI, Scientologists, and whoever else you care to add, has finally been unearthed! The Panthers sail to victory again without the need for skill, the just rely on the "Powers that be" to hand them the victory on a nice silver plate.
Oh wait... No its just more b***s***.

Before the meeting I was talking to a speedway NZ Official, he was saying that after the first night there were a lot of people pointing the finger at them because nothing happened with some cars moving under the reds, some were penalized others were not, some cars were cutting the pole line and had been for several years and had not been penalized where other cars in the same race had been these infringements were being called in and they were waiting for decisions that were not forthcoming. he understood that there had been a decision taken that every call to the control tower would be acted on and he hoped that tonight would go better. I am not saying that any officials were being biased but on the whole the guys on the ground were doing the best they could and trusting that the right calls would be made. we have to trust that the people making the calls make the right ones not the popular ones the hopefully every one can go home satisfied the the meeting has been fair. I do not know why Nelson did not come out to receive their 3rd place awards but it left a few in the crowd a little disappointed I hope that this is followed in the future Cheers Numbum
