given that the superstock numbers are on the rise in stratford how about the gladiators making a return? didn't Stratford have 3 teams of local drivers at this years teams champs? the Scrappers, Mustangs & Panthers! Hi There, you could make it 4 teams with the Warrirors. Thanks Heaps.

Regardless, it would be great to see 12 teams for 2012, and then work on having 12 strong teams thereafter, once the 12 team format is viable again. Agreed; a few of the current 11 struggled for numbers and needed help this year, leaving the chance they may not all be back in 2012 (plus we've recently lost Otago and both Wanga's and Auckland have missed a year each in the past two). Yup 12 teams is the ideal number with four seeded teams heading a group each. Any more will take away the quality of some teams..

Believe it or not there were Auckland Superstock drivers doing all they could to front a team for the event this year. I believe they were 1 driver short & things just didn't pan out if I get out for the start of next season as planned & manage to get a handle on the car, and a "large" spares package together ;D then Auckland Allstars will be there for sure. it would be even better if some of the Auckland guys signed with an A on the car for next season and then they could have a selection process. Well said Shane - One more going to the track next weekend for greensheeting, a bit late but finally gonna be there!

I reckon they should stick with the 12 team format, and if Auckland, Wellington or Baypark want back in then they should drop the Mustangs. I only say this because each province should get a chance to be represented. They need to say to each track, if you want a team entered it is on a first in first served basis, one team only from each track and we take the first 12 teams to enter. There are to many ring ins these days, if all the teams mentioned want to race then they need put the team together with drivers from there track, this should then whittle the teams down to around 12. Team number Problem solved. Just my opinion, makes it fair for everyone.

So why not have Super12 Superstock Teams Racing were professional provincial teams race.
12 x Team owners. 12 x Teams made up of 6 drivers running 5 cars.
Drivers getting paid what they think they are worth or what the team owner thinks they are worth.
Team owner(s) funding and promoting there team like a true professional race team.
Just a thought/dream............
I am sure superstock teams racing once a month 4 to 5 times a season would draw a lot of interest and revenue for clubs hosting it. Along with the normal championships NI, SI, GP, NZ and 240/248'S

Along with the normal championships NI, SI, GP, NZ and 240/248'S Very interesting concept Acorn. Although for alot of us its just a dream, if somebody had the vision and drive im sure it could become reality?? Its been proven that in NZ-Superstock teams racing is the most popular racing in speedway, attracting sellout crowds at Palmy each year. Also with fans travelling from as far away as the UK and USA i think its time for someone to take it to the next level. Most other forms of motorsport have several rounds to the championship at several different locations round the country. BUt without major sponsorship $ and some TV time it just cant happen I for one would much rather watch this than lap after lap of minis etc and if i was a buisness owner would much rather have my name on a Superstock than these other classes. In saying that things need to change in the way sponsorship is displayed on alot of cars as discussed awhile back in the sponsorship thread by Bill Clarkson...

Along with the normal championships NI, SI, GP, NZ and 240/248'S great idea, provided it is run along with the teams champs event here in palmy. perhaps it could be used to determine rankings for the teams champs. the current seeding method for the top 4 teams is good, but doesnt show who is strongest for that year, only who was best at the previous years teams champs. having a championship type competition run throughout the year should also help produce some more strong teams, as i think regular tems racing really helps average or crap teams become great teams. look at how far nelson have come over the last 10 or so years since they started the challenge cup with palmy, and then thier annual series with chch. yes they have some good drivers to begin with, but for them to have become one of the top 2 teams in the country has taken regular teams racing. i think there are already the beginings of a comp that can be run throughout the season, with the panthers now starting an annual teams race with hawkes bay and already have the challenge cup in place with nelson, and the potential revival of the rodger love trophey with wangas (i tihnk thats what its called) having such a comp could allow for more teams to compete, and just take the top 12 each feb for the teams champs

Each club gets a chance to host a round on a rotation like NZ Champs is and the final in palmy every year. Only issue's would be sponsorship and driver fatigue. Could the body stand up to possibly 16 teams race's a season? ;D
