I was talking to a guy at Palmy who is also a regular on Macgors. This boy thinks outside the square. Well he thinks Palmy teams could one day be a THREE DAY EVENT! Increase the amount of teams including two more overseas teams, get the sponsorship in place, get "buy in" from all clubs co-ordinated at all levels, $$$$ so the best drivers are in place and whammo! Possible? Just imagine three days of teams! ;D ;D ;D

or just combine the superstock teams with the stockcar teams. have the qualifying on seperate days, then the finals on night 3. would be awesome

Given they couldn't get 12 teams and many of the 11 teams had a ring in this year the idea does seem a little far fetched

I wouldnt think it wise to increase the amount of races per team at all, just read what Steiny and Horse are saying they feel like on the Rebels page, plus at least 3 guys broke bones, and i bet alot of those Scrappers arent feeling 100%.. hope the dude whose car stood on its front bumper was wearing a box..lol.
Its a cool idea to think big, but i reckon getting back to the 12, and all good strong teams should be priority now.

Surely there is an advantage with the Stock car teams champs being held at the previous years winners track? The universe does not end at Palmy speedway?

plus where would everyone fit in the pits....awesome idea but not practical unfortunately i think we could fit everyone in the pits at palmy. we have a much bigger pit area than we used to. and with the rugby museum moving to te manawa, we can gain a bit more room. but it would be pretty much full to the brim. might even need to use some of the carpark by the grandstand where the classics were parked this weekend

One small little issue with your comment - these are the Palmerston North Teams Champs. They are not the national teams champs or the NZ teams champs - they are a Palmerston North Speedway organised, run and sourced event that has proven to be highly successful year after year after year.

I had a chat about this with Wiseowl on Saturday night. With the Teams Champs being on Saturday/Sunday next year, we tossed around the idea of this programme:
Fri: Stockcar Teams Champs qualifying Sat: Stockcar Teams finals/Superstock Teams qualifying Sun: Superstock Teams finals
That would be one heck of a weekend. However we came to the conclusion that Bruce and Puk would want two separate two-day events, as he would be doing himself out of a day's takings! Food for thought though ...

Thing is, they could actually do this any year if they really wanted. Wouldn't have to be the NZ Stockcar Teams, could run their own one.
The fact that they havent done it already would indicate its probably not likely to happen.

3 consecutive days of teams racing would be a bit hard on the drivers who compete in both classes teams champs don't you think? Rees, Barron and Mooney did it this year off the top of my head. I would much rather see them racing both than have to choose one over the other. A bit much to expect them to do 3 days teams racing in a row.

Why would the promoters have this idea, there is a sell out crowd for supers,no reason a stockcar teams couldn't be as successfull and held sometime later,a way of making more dollars.

Bruce too much of a business man to combine the two. Both events will be worthy of a watch. I remember the last time Palmy run the stockcar teams the crowd was very average I thought. Great racing and no need to get there at 5pm to get a seat
