Hi team , I am pleased to advise that a two day pass, at the discounted price of $55.00, will be available at the main gate . Website will be updated tomorrow, Bernie Well done ASSCC - I think this will go some way to ensuring a good 2-night crowd. I also think dropping the 10 Streestocks and replacing them with what will almost certainly be a bigger field of Saloons is a positive move. Now had it of been 20-26 Streeties fighting for their Auckland Champs it'd be a different story, but when you're charging a Premium+ gate fee you have to do what is best for the paying public (which is not always what is best for some of your contracted competitors).

WOW $35 for Finals, may just have a quiet weekend and do NI Stockcars instead. Sorry WP. Second night with the Teams plus big fields of Super Saloons and Modifieds should be good I tend to think two night programmes should be discounted if the punter does both nights. $30 each night in this instance. Not that $5 is breaking the bank either way, but family pass at the same price both nights would be good for two night pass.

If I hadn't told the wife ealier I was having a quiet weekend at home I'd be there. Was to do Nth Is with son racing, but he pulled the pin. Hasn't touched the car in a fortnight, so I found things to do on the farm. A couple of hours at Gis track and up early Sunday. Good luck WP, I think you are on a winner.

I'll second that. and the $55 for two night entry has to be a bargain considering what is on offer. Seems to me Waikaraka is pulling out all the stops to attract the punters. Now it's up to us punters to respond in kind. I haven't been so keen to visit the 'big smoke' in a long time.

Well I'm happy to see the introduction of a two-night concession pass at $55.
On paper Friday night looks to be a $20 show and Saturday a $30 show so $55 over two nights is almost spot on.
I will however question the late introduction of this pricing and the effect the lateness will have on the crowd. I'm sure I read on here that a concession pass was discussed at the most recent committee meeting and was decided against.
So why the change and why the change so late when it will likely have a negligible effect on the crowd? Not to mention the change came so late it couldn't be incorporated into the advert I heard on The Rock FM this morning.
It all looks a bit messy from the outside.

Yes it may be late and could have been done earlier, but you would like to think that they are responding to negative comments about the price and decided to react. I'm sure the bush telegraph will be working overtime about this. At the end of it all, if it has put this meeting in reach of more people then it has to be a good thing.

Phew thats a sigh of relief for all of us, espcially after you were so violently ill about a week a go. I appreciate the concern. The concession pass was a factor in aiding my recovery. Jamo, the success of this meeting depends on how many casual fans come through the gate. The hardcore fans here on Macgors will go regardless of the concession pass. However $65 over two nights is a large outlay for the fan who goes 1-5 times a season. The casual fan listening to The Rock FM advertisement this morning will probably go Saturday night as it's one of the premiere meetings of the season. You will get their $35. However if they were aware of the availability of the concession pass a certain percentage would be tempted to attend both nights at a $20 benefit per person to Waikaraka Park. As it stands the promotion will take a $10 hit on the hardcore fans who were already going both nights in the hope of attracting casual fans to both nights at a $20 gain. That's the gamble being taken. Problem is the casual fans are yet to hear about the concession pass and it's mid-day Thursday. Many will already have plans for the weekend. There is a lesson to be learnt here for future meetings. Concession pricing is probably a worthwhile concept however it needs to be announced early and advertised to work to increase the gate takings to the promotion.

I would consider going Friday, but wont unless I get a list of support class entries, especially saloons. Not all of us just go for the Stockcars. I have said before that Waikaraka need to be publicising who the entries are. Perhaps I am not a trusting person but I cant see a great field of saloons given Sat night is the Champ of Champs at Gisborne. Furthermore 20 Supers expected on Sat, ditto who are they given SSCAR at Wellington and Baypark also running ?

Well they'll get an extra $20 out of me (x2 I guess), since I didn't think the first night was worth $30 (and had told Dion so) but I do think it's worth $20 as a part of $55 concession deal. It's also a better show now with the Saloons added.
It's also not just the casual fan, IMHO, but various people have mentioned the price in comparison to the Palmy Teams and also to Western Springs. The $10 discount over 2 nights goes some way to addressing that. Hopefully others that may have only been considering one night, now go for two. Word of mouth is always good advertising, get talking.....

And as I've mentioned before in this thread, Baypark is NOT running Super Saloons this Saturday night. I'd be a little surprised if WP can attract 20 Super Saloons, but quite frankly with Teams Racing on we don't need 20!! I'd be happy with 14-15 as a support class......
