Personally I can't recall a Friday at WP that's had a big crowd for years. First nights of Saloon, Mod and Superstock Champs in the past have been notorious for average numbers. All said and done, it wasn't that bad last night numbers wise.
Thought the racing started OK and got better. It's impossible to predict what's going to happen, pretty much you "pays your money and takes your chances". A couple of roll overs and then the huge hit at the end, stockcars played their part and so did the Saloons; even the Ministocks got "the hook" for mis-behaving, so there was plenty of entertainment.
As for those deciding to flag tonight, your loss methinks. The racing is going to step up quite a bit, especially if it ends up as a Palmy v Rebels final as I think it will. On top of that 18 - 20 Mods and the same amount of Supers, you'd go a long way to see a programme better than that!
As for the cost, it's all relevant, nothing is the same price it used to be. The call has gone out for the Teams to be run again, the club has done so and the gate prices reflect the cost of staging the event. Bit of a reality check for some by the looks of things.

Seems to me if any supersaloons had their release signed from Baypark to enable them to race in Auckland tonight those releases stand unless Auckland re-releases them. Certainly I hope I need most of my fingers and toes to count them at Waikaraka tonight.

Does anybody really do the release thing these days? But Mr Mac is right, if they were released to race, Auckland has to release them back to BP or they are in breach of there licence.

You bet they do, particularly Willie Kay, just ask the super saloon drivers who raced at Ferndene last year without a BP release....

Hmmmmm and Auckland would look ridiculously stupid to lease them back to BP when:
1) It has been advetised that 20 Supers are expected to front &
2) Baypark have made a last minute decision to run Super saloons....
So is it really worth risking...I Can't see why ASSCC would return their lease in jeoprady of their own show.....

One stockcar came home from Nth Is, as he didn't know where he ended up.
BP rang here and told the club not to let him run tonight.
Didn't matter as we were stood down because of cars at BP.
