Just a query about this car's place in history ... the initial post refers to this as the #001 car for Demon Race Cars and the first one for the chassis builder but the recently sold 8C is also described as a Demon chassis.
Any insights?

Any insights? I'm not familar with the Christchurch car, but the 8C car described as a "Demon Chassis" is totally separate and not a product of DEMON RACE CARS Palmerston North. DEMON RACE CARS is also a totally separate entity from CSL There is only one DEMON RACE CARS free image hosting upload imageDoug's car is chassis #001, as new orders are placed I will report on chassis #002 in due course. image upload

You say there is only one Demon Race Cars but the builder of the ex 8c might beg to differ. As that car preceeds this one maybe he has claim to the name - could get a bit confusing if you both stick to it.

You can see where the confusion could arise when two outfits are using the same name. To the not-so-well-informed it would be easy to get the two mixed up or think they are one and the same. Does anyone know who builds the Demon chassis as I don't believe the ex 8c is the only one, I'm sure I hace seen another southern car described as being a Demon chassis but I can't remember where I saw it.

Well Im one of the not so well informed. yet i figured it out. "Demon race cars LTD" is not the same as "a demon chassis", there can be confusion its true - but if you slow down and think about it {it took me about ten minutes to figure it all out } you start seeing the differences. the Demon race cars company do alot of things, front beam axles, firewalls etc... so in truth they cannot be considered the same as the demon chassis which is just - when all is said and done - a single chassis design.

Just out of curiosity, seeing as this is #001 does it have to be different in design from say a gordge or other chassis completely or just 1 bar to claim a new chassis and name? Ive just always been curious or what is to stop someone making a t mac tri rail and calling it their own chassis.

Which makes it a Kuriger chassis, not a Demon? Notice I deliberately didn't say Demon Race Cars!

I think Barry was more pointing to the fact the first spaceframe made was a Kuriger chassis - so in effect every spaceframe in existance is a Kuriger copy ;D You're on to it Clive.......
