Looks suspiciously like a 68/69 Dodge Charger R/T Hemi ... could have the Magnum 440 engine or the 426 ... and then again I could be wrong

I saw this car this week too, it's a DeSoto, and like the Plymouth above it's known as a "Mopar" car. What's a Mopar car? When Chrysler took over Plymouth, Dodge, DeSoto and Imperial, they were contracted with Motor Parts Company to make most of their mechanical parts. As with Delco is to GM, Mopar Parts is to Chrysler. Mopar became a way to say all of the products that were under Chrysler Corp. and everyone knew what you meant. I'm only assuming, but if Brent Boddy Cars PN was a Chrysler dealer then that would explain the big Mopar sign on Peter Rees truck? post image wordpress1939 free image hostingSaw a few Falcons this week too, this one.. gif uploadAnd I got to meet Alf, who has owned this ute since it was brand new in 1972. Alf told me, "they're getting harder to find now day's, these automatic's." Alf wasn't happy about the cost of registration either. image upload upload gifSaw this too. cool. post image wordpressSome of the vehicles BombsAway get are simply because of the cost of Government compliance. Some people I meet have fallen behind in their registration payments, Wof falls overdue, add a couple of tyres, and many people have to say goodye to cars that are still quite drivable, but which they just can't afford to keep. This Prelude driver could be driven, but I'm not sure if it'd pass a warrant with a wing that long. wordpress image hostingEven though the rear end looks a bit dodgey, it did still seem to perform and handle ok. These things are revvers, but not really my cuppa tea. png uploadYip, come across a lot of interesting people and vehicles in a BombsAway week. Hope you get well soon boss, we got lot's more to go see. Apparantly this is a Saloon car diff, Morris Commercial free image hostingThanks to BombsAway I am continuously reminded by my eyes that all those stories you hear of someone finding a cool car in a barn are true, but you never hear any stories about anyone finding one sitting in a pub. post image wordpress adult image hosting

Had a bit of very good news today - I got given a rare classic 1982 BMW 520i manual to go Taranaki Targa racing, with full support, this year. I'd just mentioned to my mate that Josh Lambert (current Ray Tarrant Memorial Sidecar Champion) had scored an old school Honda VTech for his family to have some fun in at Manfeild, and walah, next thing ya know, I'm in. My Taranaki Targa car is semi-complete, just needs a windscreen, so please PM me if you've got one, otherwise I suppose I'll just have to go to Germany to find one.. we did say "full support" aye mate. haha
Hope to do the Whittakers classic series at Manfield too along with a local XW GT 351 Falcon, which will be set up as a crowd pleaser, if they'll let us back.
I'll post pic's of the build, test, race and crash very soon. ;D

They told me your car has full potential but are concerned that you have not realised that it is rear wheel drive ? Just spoke to Xcars and he sponsoring the race seats and TomTom

That's so great, thanks for the seats but I don't know how to play the drums. Thanks [glow=red,2,300]XCars![/glow]..rear wheel drive, I knew... yeah got reminded by a Mitsibishi today that speedway ain't front wheel drive. I didn't take my camera with me for once today so I don't have a picture of the rear wheel drive BMW, but I will tomorrow. The car is a bit different and needs putting together, but it's all there with racey Bosch fuel injection, 5 speed manual, no muffler required.. should be a bit of fun. Here's picture of someone's basketball beside a big ass Morris Commercial diff. image host

Hey mate... We got Taranaki TV over here. Have added a link to my pitcrew when I jumped camps and raced a Beemer.
We have a bed over here for your team when you hit the Taranaki Tarmac

Thanks for the offer of a a bed Badhead, your homo mates from L.A. look harmless enough, but I'll bring Jake's Transit Van too, just in case. You and your nancy boy's will be pleased to know that they don't allow smokes in prison anymore, so when someone friendly with Sons Of Tonga tattoed on his forehead says "I've's got your back bro":, you really will be sweet this time.
PS: Scored the keys to a Possum Borne twin turbo all wheel drive Soobie GT for the second time in 2 days, must be meant to be... haha ya too slow Jake, too slow haha.
Just been given an old book "The Jim Richards Story" looks cool. The Jerry Clayton Motors 350 Monaro #25 which Jim debuted at Waikaraka Park in 1973 was mean, and took him to another title. I was going to paint the Naki Targa Beemer "BombsAway White", but after a quick look through my new book I think it'll possibly be black with gold leaf John Player Special signage.

Xcars said the TomTom was for you to find your way in the targa rally because no one would ever be crazy enough to be your navigator. LOL. Also, Good to have if you ever venture down ashburton way again.

I'm buzzing (but not "obsessed" haha) about my new BMW project. It will be a lot of fun I'm sure, to bring it back to life as a tribute to the great Jim Richards. I have a lot of support for this project for which I am very grateful - there are a lot of valuable life lessons to be learned from getting a car ready, and going racing with a team, that I will be sharing with you all through The Go Slideways Foundation in the very near future. I know nothing about my car, other than it's apparently a 1982 BMW 520i, on the intake maifold is embossed "Z.FOLGE153G24" if you can point me in the direction for information I'd appreciate it. Here's the first 24 hours... Yeah, I've had a few German cars now, and raced all of them. haha lucky for me they're solid cars. I'm not "obsessed" but I do just.... [glow=red,2,300]love[/glow] this car, it's a V12 and is capable of over 303kph, that's 188 miles per hour, and more. Mean movie coming up haha.. Chapter 12 haha image hostingPS: As for my having trouble finding a crazy navigator Headshape, don't you worry, I'll just tell a car wrecking buddy of mine that I know where a barn-find Falcon is somewhere near Moeawatea, and he'll be in like Finn with a grin. (no bull, that just reminded me of a real Falcon sitting in the bush up the Moey past George's place)As for finding my way back to Ashburton, that's easy, according to Jak Jak you just keep heading South till you run out of land.

Part 1 of the Shelby Aluminator, Whipple Supercharged, 2003 Mach 1 Mustang upgrade.
I'll post lots of smoke 'em up tyre shredding slideways thunderstruck action shots from testing soon..
The bloody YouTube police wouldn't let me use the Black Sabath soundtrack, so it's being auto-replaced with unknown metal band "A Thousand Nights Of Knives" and Aussie band "Hunters and Collectors". The clip may be silent in places for the next hour or 2 Brassed me off a bit to go through the whole upload process and use a lot of giga bites only to be told at the very end "nah, sorry try again.."
..next time the music will be all Kiwi from emerging Palmy based mixer Reece Rob "SoulFlex"(.com)
Bloody cold Friday night in Palmy, at least the whitebait fritters for tea were yummy..
PS: I've been doing a bit of research on the "Gulf" badge I was given this week, and I am happy to say that I now know it was worn by Bruce MacLaren (1st) and Denny Hulme (2nd) driving Ford GT40's at the 1966 LeMans race. These cars have the same engine that the Shelby Aluminator is based on. I also found some cool pictures of the very cool Steve McQueen wearing the same "Gulf" badge. Neat alright.
