After seeing Modifeds at Rotorua last week I can not see how it would be good for the class to run the NZs there. Only three cars managed to finish the final race and in truth only one driver seemed to have mastered the track, I feel it is not a place that would show case the best the class has to offer.

Totally agree Rotorua is to small too much damage and there was only 8 cars i think.

hmmm i say get rid of the turn system for champs it should go to who ever wants to put decent prize money up for the winners thats gotta be the way we go and to build classes we need to offer bigger prize pools for top ten drivers at champs instead of top 3 give others a reason to go hard every time they go out

Totaly agree Shaymax. .Rotorua dont even run mods on a regular night .Have they any cars even contracted 2 them. I don't think so
I think U should not even b able 2 go 4 the hosting of a title if u have none of that class contracted 2 the track.. Bit unfair on the tracks that race them each season ain't it.
Just my thoughts.

For any track to be awarded the event they must first apply for it!!
A few of the tracks listed above have not applied for it as they don't want to hold it... plain and simple!
Part of the issue may be that they don't want to have to try and find the prizemoney required to host it.
End of the day it is no point complaining if the likes of Stratty, Auckland, Christchurch etc etc etc don't get the event because it will likely be they didn't try to get it!!
Talk to your clubs if you want them to hold it.

Hi All, Was aware of the NZ Mods being unallocated for the coming year, and was luke warm about putting our hands up for this event. We do however have a very small but passionatte following for this class locally, with 3 registered cars to GM. We have held the WC champs which attracted 7 mods, and with the King of the COast looking like 10 cars, and hopefully another meeting getting to 8 we should be close to the NZ title criteria. Our competitors were asked at the recent NZ title to apply for the championship, and if we can meet the SPANZ criteria we hope to put a request through at the next conference. The good news is we already have a pretty strong commitment from an International company to sponsor this event to at the minimum same level as Wellington. Our track suits Mods, its wide, long, and has some good drive. Muzza Gordge won his last title here in 2003/004, with LIndsey Hughes 2nd and Jamie Fox defending 1nz in 3rd place - perhaps slightly unlucky, as there was some physical passing in one of the heats that attracted some attention. www.speedwayarchive.co.nz/asp/ModifiedNZ.aspEither way, was a well supported meeting, with some very good racing. I guess the issue for us will be - meeting the SPANZ requirements
- Getting the support from other tracks
- Getting the support from competitors
Its a long way to come, so we would look to run a two day event for the drivers, and with Woodford Glen committed to running a big Mod invitataional each year it would make sense if we timed it around that event, to give those traveling competitors from the NOrth Island a chance to get more racing for their travelling bucks. Alternatively, we can work in with other South Island tracks so we can offer more racing for those traveling the straight - I think this sort of thing helps build the classes in places were perhaps they are struggling.

Who would know where we will end up next season for the NZ title. I have heard conflicting stories around the traps so am non the wiser I know that the only one to actually apply for the 2012/13 NZ title at last years AGM was Rotorua but they were knocked back because they "didn't meet the required criteria". Since then I have heard that Wellington have been awarded it again (would make 2 years in a row) as they said they would reluctantly run it again as no one that qualifies went from it. Have also heard that Stratty now want it as well and will be applying for it (if it is in fact not already allocated to Wellington again) and now reading above it seems Greymouth may be keen as well. I just hope that clubs get organised if they want it in the 2013/14 season and actually apply for it like they are supposed to 2 seasons out (at this years AGM). Would make life alot easier!!

If the champs are run again in the north Island next season it will be to the detrimint of the class in the south island.
The title needs to be held in eather Blenheim or Greymouth or to be honest i dont think the class will survive much longer at either track.
Blenheim will be down to 2 contracted (unless i contract there again next year) cars when the 114 car ends up selling. and the only way in my eyes the class will grow is for visitors to make regular trips and for SNZ to allocate the title to the E for the 2012-13 season.

Nelson track would be a great place for the champs.. I dont think so I have been told that the track needs to run a min of 3 meetings with at least 8 cars on the track to be able to qualify to apply for the NZ title. If the title was awarded to Nelson i would not be entering as like rotorua i dont feel the track suits modifieds. Thats my opinion. Nothing against either track or the people that run them etc.

The track for the dirt cup last night was exceptional, the best I have seen in a long time
