Well, it worked for 11 teams... Exactly..........I personally prefer the 12 team format, but with 13 teams it will work similar to the 11 team format, and that is with no groups, the top 4 points scorers overall going through to the Semi Finals. And we don't want to turn teams away, do we?

It adds a bit of spice to the group phase too; but whatever transpires, there will still be some who believe that the draw is rigged.

what a cracking idea!! winston peters to conduct the draw. 13 teams does appear to be awkward, how does the format work with this number? p.s i only have one record, "upside down" by donna summer. i would like to dedicate it to all teams that face the tigers!! ;D upside down, inside out, and round & round............

lol i would prefer to know the actual system being used and how it works rather than a guess. Apparently it's being worked on as you type busterbell - the Panthers will meet the Tigers in the first race on Night 1 With 13 teams there won't be groups, just like with the 11 team format over the past 2 years. With 12 teams there will be groups. kaspa's posting is just a bunch of meaningless numbers, as it needs to be set up so the top 4 seeds from 2011 don't meet each other on night 1, teams 5-13 (drawn randomly) as much as physically meet 1 x seeded team and 1 x non-seeded team, AND that the gaps between races are as even as possible - as I see it anyway.

and which numbers represent the seeded teams? Seeded teams could be 1, 3, 5 and 7. That would work fine.
