I've pinned this thread to the top so it doesn't get lost in the day's discussions, and somebody starts another one.

Don't worry too much Highway, Macgor will step in to nix the overly negative posts I'm sure. He did with last nights' thread

My 10 cents worth, although it means nothing, is that i personally think what these guys(drivers, crew and better halves) sacrifice each season both financially and time wise to provide entertainment for the masses needs recognition. The effort put in by everybody involved is immense. The Bootes and Hemis of this worlds financial imput must give the bank managers burst blood vessels. They do this for not only for the enjoyment of their chosen sport but also to provide enjoyment for everybody concerned. The whole "speedway travelling circus" has evolved over the past twenty years where you now have "proper blokes" like Mal Ngatai and Shane Harwood crossing the straight on numerous occasions to be able to compete at the highest level, as everybody knows that is not cheap. WHY do guys like these and others do this, maybe we wont know for another 50 years after they have gone and clever people have done frontal lobotomies on the current stable of Speedway drivers. I for one have spent the last 40 odd years attending events and have had the "bug" since a very early age, id say that 90 % of magorites have that same bug.
Rant Time
In my opinion we(myself included) far to frequently take the speedway fraternity for granted. We expect these guys to place in all on the Line week in , week out. Easy for us as we sit here and maybe fork out 50 bucks for a live speedbox stream, box of beer and a packet of crisps.
I do get fed up with the "P" bashing, the bigotry and the tall poppy syndrome that comes across the board.
Finally Good luck to all the qualifiers tonight. May you enjoy it, and may you also take it that we admire what you do for the sport. and the new 1 NZ at 11pm tonight....enjoy it as you wont get it easy.

Amen to that Rob; agree wholeheartedly. Let's be grateful that there are guys who literally put everything on the line to entertain us. May the best man win, regardless of what letter follows his number ( but go hard Daryl Taylor!).

settled in for a long night here in the states. Phone doesn't support the live audio feed so will be watchin these boards for the results. Wish all competitors well. The 26 who make it through are all deserving. A couple of guys id like to see make it to the big one. In no particular order. 32p. No I don't support the P. But spoke to him in blenheim last april. Top bloke. 7n. Would love to see him make it 4 times. 859p. Real long shot. But the red waka stables need something good to come of the weekend. 8p...cause a 1nz on the tank would look awesome.
Reality is though its anyones game once the flag drops.
