G'day, so Craigs answer brings us back to my question, if the unit is the same, but the memcal chip is different, do you change the chip to a manual, im asking cause it seems to me that the chip used in the auto might have some differing programming to that of the manual, and if so, which is better for our application? cheers, mick

I've tacked on the the end of this thread with another Question regarding the Holden V6. Someone recently suggested to me a VZ Holden would be good to run. I've seen the VN VP & VR & the suggested combos of the 3 but is there any reason no one has mentioned the new motors for Stockcars?
Any info or opinions would be appreciated.
Cheers.

VZ V6s are 3.6 litre all alloy,175kw or 190kw version, thats the good part, but both are quad cam making them unsuitable for stockcar but a possibility for superstock. I have got my hands on one from a accident damaged car so am looking into performance stuff etc thru work but not a lot around at present.

Thanks Craig. Oh well, I don't have any aspirations to run in the Superstocks, So I'll just keep my eyes open for a Nice VP and a couple of good VR heads. is there anyone out there building super sump mounting units for them? Or someone I could get some Idea of prices from? I cant believe I'm genuinely making enquirers into a Hollllllll Hooo Hh H Holduuuuurrrr The other motor to a FORD But they are light and compact for the HP they produce. Does anyone know the weight advantage or difference of a FORD In-line6 EA or AU to HOLDEN V6? The Holden must be heaps lighter.

Other new motors not mentioned - and I assume it is due to sourcing one at a reasonable price - is the models from the VT and the VY - as I understand it the same engine design, so you would think as usable? ANyone using one of these motors? Actually as an aside you often here people saying change the valve springs - anyone got a tip on a reasonable price and supplier of a set that would do the job for a VT motor? cheers in advance.

VN - Aug 1988 = 125kW VP - Sept 1991 = 127kW VR - July 1993 = 130kW VS - April 1995 = 145kW VT - Aug 1997 = 147kW VX - Sept 2000 = 152kW VY - Oct 2002 = 152kW
And any models after this they use the 4 valve 3.6 V6, which cant be used in a Stockcar.
