Excellent thank you.
May have made one step forward 2 steps back I think tonight. Went to put the motor in tonight and the dowls on the back of the block are a good 5mm either side from lining up on the firewall. To me the holes are elongated currently on the firewall. Whats everyones opinion on the firewall - would you elongate the holes - or I believe the far better and stronger way - replace with a new laser cut firewall?
Engine mounts are for a old falcon motor, which must only have 3 mounting bolts - so will turf them also in favour of 4 bolt holes per side..
Had a play with the plasma cutter tonight, should come in rather handy indeed. Just got to save for some coilover kits and then some springs before I can cut all the torsions off.

Big thank you to Craig & Ian from rarespares, great guys to deal with, kindly made deal for the ute and helped with some parts I needed in the process, very knowledgible and easy to deal with! Thanks Chris, everyone wins with that ute.....plus you didnt get to have it sitting in the driveway for months slowly selling bits off it...oh wait that sounds just like Tim lol Craig

I have no idea what they're off - yes they are effectively progressive rate. But if anything were to break Ive no idea what they are to replace them.
The shocks (to be turned into coilovers) for the front at least are well out harms way. The rear end setup is very messy indeed - and I wouldnt have thought they are that well protected..
Are you the man that modifies the au inlet manifolds?

^ This is the car when Gerald Griffiths had it, My Grandad, Geoff Stanger and good friends with Gerald still to this day brought it and raced it out of Dunedin as 52d for 2 years before John Lovelady Did a rebuild on it, This car was shortened and a copy was made for Gerald (which is the car you have now). Gerald sold his car to Mike Evans from Chch then to Terry Hall i think which it looked like then changed to then to Nathan Birss, then to the guy you brought it off im pretty sure, Geoffs car was thought to be in burnham area but the house has been demolished where it was thought to be.

Brilliant thank you, I wonder when it was changed to run a falcon motor?
Can definitely see the (Chev?) V8 there. I can also see some of the changes that were made along the cars lifetime - mainly around the radiator & supporting area's.
Love seeing more photo's of it and its progression

Love seeing more photo's of it and its progression Changed to Falcon when it was purchased off Terry...Bonezman made a few changes - as he usually does when he gets hold of any car - and it was onsold to Nathan. Bonez may have some progress pics possibly, will try and remember to check with him.

So the skyline hubs arent quite going to work, worth a try. I will still utilise the calipers I have though on the rear end. Picked up a Girdle so once I get the hang of the plasma I'll endevour to prepare the engine bay for the girdle & a new firewall. Courtesy of Colin / Michael. Already blown the garage fuse once, doubled up the fusewire now, think I need to invest in a breaker though.

No, no, no. A 4" nail gets a better burn going. Ask Gribbs, by the time the fire brigade gets there the shed should be gone.

For the fuse itself, not wire on its own poked in there...

For the fuse itself, not wire on its own poked in there... run the shortest extension lead possible, and make sure it can carry enough ammps..............., alternatively, get a decent amperage extension lead and plug it into your oven, as the oven circuit is designed for heavy loading.
